#25 no disrespect in TF2 General Discussion
Getawhalerotidderstephso cool that the word "uwu" is banned and gives me a 10 second timeout but when multiple people type "nursey is a man" over and over (when she isnt even fucking at lan lmao) they just get a free pass

great job guys proud of u
Thank you for taking such a bold stance and speaking about the issues that really matter.

I have no interest in uwu but it has been the theme of the weekend that racial/gay/etc slurs and random Punjabi/foreign language typing have been spammed with nothing done about it for long stretches, but then folks are getting timed out for other super dumb shit like saying uberchain or uwu

The moderation has had two modes.. erase everything over-zealously, or do nothing. It's been frustrating.

God forbid that we have a little bit of heckling between spectators and the production crew, castors, and teams at LAN.

morwannegMakyStraws account for 0.01% of plastic pollution, the United States, as a whole accounts for less then 10 percent of all the world's pollution. The United States and its citizens are not at fault for "global warming" or "climate change". Countries like China and India are so filthy that nearly 90% of their water supply is tainted, the problem, if any, are other countries, not the US. Unfortunately alot of the countries that account for pollution are not apart of NATO or any other global system. China, at this point, cares more about turning a profit then the well being if its citizens. This is the most bizarre logic. "Oh it's only a bit of trash, so it shouldn't matter what I as a private citizen do." This is the same logic that leads to low voter turnout (eh, a single vote doesn't matter) that in turn leads to clueless old guys who don't know what they're talking about being elected year after year. If you as a citizen don't take care of the environment, why should an official that is supposed to be a representative of you as a citizen care? Why should these elected officials place political pressure on countries that produce the most pollution if they're elected by an uncaring citizenry? Why should they work to raise awareness of such issues if you, the citizens they represent, shift the blame to "oh it's India and China and I can't do anything about that." If you aren't doing anything, then why should the government who represents you? Also, just because China is at the top doesn't mean the United States magically produces zero pollution. China may be 2x as much, but the US is ranked second on the top sources of pollution by country, followed by the EU, then India.

But the alternative is actually worse. Starbucks decided to start selling paper straws... in a one time use plastic bag, the "strawless lids" they invented actually use more plastic then the old straw/lid combo. I live in an area of California where you not only have to buy a paper straw but you are forced to pay even more for plastic products. Compared to other countries, the US is actually one of the cleanest countries, if you look at the actual numbers. If you removed LA, NY, Chicago, SF, and Cleveland, the Unites States would be much cleaner.

The city of LA started painting the streets white in March in order to combat "global warming", it will cost over 40,000 dollars per mile. Don't you think that that money could have been spent better? LA county is plagued with poverty and crime, don't you think that the billions of dollars they spent on white paint could have been sent to anything better? Not only that but the paint will actually make things hotter! The white paint will reflect the heat off the road make the road cooler, yes, but where will that excess heat go? That heat will not just dissipate because of the white paint, it will most likely be reflected into the glass buildings creating even more of a greenhouse affect. So this "project" to save the earth, will actually make LA about 20 degrees hotter.

I agree that there is a good deal of evidence in favor of global warming, but lets ask the question: If the world is warming up? Then why was last winter a record cold winter?

morwannegMaky"guys, in order to save the world we gotta ban straws" - CaliforniaOut of context it may look like this, but it's a small step toward getting people to think about what they do with their trash and recycling. If they say "hey using straws is bad" maybe they'll start thinking "maybe I should recycle this instead of just throwing it out, or maybe I should use reusable containers instead of buying disposable garbage."

Straws account for 0.01% of plastic pollution, the United States, as a whole accounts for less then 10 percent of all the world's pollution. invertigoThe idea that some of the best TF2 players out there, who are extremely gifted at making the sickest plays and the craziest airshots, are also capable of justifying their shitty behavior with whataboutism, the First Amendment, the status quo, or other logical fallacies.

Personally attacking people in and out of game is bad. No buts; ifs; what abouts; and, for fucks sake, denying someone attacked another when their reply was three words that cannot be taken as anything but insults to three separate aspects of their character.

The First Amendment? These players a European so the FA doesn't even pertain to them. These players had the right to post what they wanted too, BUT that also means they have to deal with the consequences. What gives you the right to police what someone says, these two players said some dumb shit, everyone agrees and no one is denying that. But these players do not deserve an out right ban, a formal warning or a few game suspension would suffice.

Tino_MakyAzazel-Makyif we start banning players who said dumb and sexist things, then many members of the community, including myself, would be banned. mad_dogWhat about all the people saying the N word? should we ban them??
thank you both for these excellent suggestions. yes. ban hammer

The narrative that we can just ban people because they think differently, needs to stop. Just because I have a differing opinion then you doesn't mean you have the right to ban me or anyone else.

Well actually everything done in TF2 is a private service, so yeah, we kinda can just ban anyone for any reason.

I have done nothing but have a different opinion then you, if you really think that thats grounds for ban, then go ahead. Seriously folks, this thread is about the 3 involved parties, can we keep it about them and not make this an entire political discussion.

Uberchain deserved nothing that happened to her, no woman or girl deserves any form of sexual misconduct direct towards them. But Pred and Degu haven't done anything wrong, if we start banning players who said dumb and sexist things, then many members of the community, including myself, would be banned. I am by no means defending these two players, but if these players are banned, what would be the reason?

Think about it, ETF2L has nothing to do with twitter and these players are not under contract, if they get banned from ETF2L then there is a more authoritarian stance behind it. These players did an awful thing, no one is denying that, but that doesn't give the community the right to "lynch mob" and get these players removed from the community.

#1 Is Rewind 3 in trouble? in LAN Discussion

So with Samiface and Wade leaving the TF2 scene, where does that leave rewind 3? Also this drama with Getawhale and Essentials.tf is most concerning as both parties hold serious weight in the TF2 Promo community. It would be very unfortunate to lose rewind LAN leaving RGB to be the last NA TF2 LAN. Hate to say it boys but without Rewind 3 the TF community could be in serious trouble, many of the top players continue to play this game for the possibility of playing at LAN.

This matter is more concerning then people think
