To think that this dates back to the days of Commft, and yet so many still haven't learnt anything. Thanks for the trip down memory lane ^^

I haven't posted much on these forums, and many of you most probably don't know me at all. But I think that this guide is worth sharing nonetheless.
It started as a simple guide on lolhl teamplay, so a lot of references to the format are made there.
But as I refined and added more elements, it became something much bigger, to the point where 75% of it is also relevant (to a greater or lesser degree, it's up to you to judge this) for 6v6 in the current version.
It seeks to explain some of the finer aspects of strategic thinking, to deliver my own view on how classes divide their roles and combine their efforts (this part is more HL-centric, but the underlying logic can transfer over to 6v6 with some modifications), and finally to give out some pointers on how to run a team with a positive atmosphere.
The guide:

Future plans:
This is still a WIP. To quote kirby: "I will continuously work on it until I feel it's absolutely complete". Any good advice is appreciated and will be considered.
A section more specific to 6v6 is also needed. It would be something similar to part 3, addressing task distribution. While I am no stranger to the underlying logic, having an experienced player's input will help me avoid embarrassing blunders.
I would also like adding illustrations eventually, so any contribution in this domain will be appreciated.

I am definitely not the first who has tried to put together a general or specific teamwork-focused guide, so I would like to credit some of those who came before me:
No Mercy's guide to communication, which is an excellent supplement to what I have written;
Hooli's team cohesion guide;
kirby's Competitive TF2 Guide to Everything.
Frank's basic guide to positioning.
B4nny's twitch excerpt where he discusses general team-building.
A mysterious stranger's lolHL game theory guide.
Byte's 2009 teamplay guide, which used to be on vanilla TV.
Sigma's guide on the art of the push, "Momentum in TF2".
Marxist's precept videos
I probably missed many treasures, I'm not perfect. You can share any "old but gold" works which you think would complement my guide.

I've been following Highlander since ETF2L's first season and playing since season 2. Played up to Div 1 / Playtinum. I'm currently a starter for Invision, which is about to dispute the Highlander High Tier semi finals of the current season.

Mostly to stream clan wars and maptalks/live tutorials. I might start practice casts.
PursuitOfHappynessI don't get how this one "will be different" when it's literally just you having 450 health and ridiculous damage output by staring near people -Smobo
how can heavy frags "be amazing"
is this a joke -Devon
Nothing against you guys, CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.
DO IT PLEASE :D !
And if that can make these haters more mad, that's bonus points for you. When you just see the ruwin drama, you just can't take them seriously anyway.
The difficulty with showcasing plays for classes which aren't from the cookie cutter format (Heavy, Medic, Pyro, Spy, Engineer) is that their most valuable contributions in a game are hard to translate into content that will be appreciated by those not playing them (chiefly tryhard scoots, souljas and snoipahs). How would you underline things like "excellent timing", "perfect positioning", "boss tanking" ?
But indeed, try putting things which are a little out of the ordinary, along with more mundane (yet solid) gameplay.
I understand the class mindset, so I can appreciate the videos.
AwakeFinaly :3 If you ever got some close range frags like the one on badwater top, close range https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=spfYFP9hl1s#t=62 PM me :3
Perhaps if I get new ones.
mage24365Unimpressive frags.
If you're going to do an engi frag movie, look at "From Engi with Love" by sigafoo. It focuses almost entirely on shotgun aim, not abusing stupidly overpowered unlocks.
No, that's exactly what I did not want to do. Otherwise I would have only used my Lakeside/Croissant/Gully shotgun streaks and it would have been it, ja-well-no-fine.
I wanted show other aspects of the class than simply plat dm. Keeping your gun up against all odds, or coming up with unorthodox last minute sentry placements to help blunt entire advances, and quick wits (-> body blocking that Soldier who was a bout to murder my capping teammates on Steel) are equally valuable skills that each engie should be proud of mastering. Otherwise, I would simply play Scout.
You can't please everybody, and I chose not to please the shotgunny ones this times.

It came together nicely in the end :)
