hi s3tsul i googled the paper clip test and tried it myself and my psu does indeed still work. ty will keep this to myself for future references
also from the pc build thread
Setsulhttps://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/gVdy4C
-PSU with a reasonable wattage (<400W build, come on)
i wanted to get a 650w but setsul was like "wtf do u need that much for, get the 450w u pz of shit"
i tried booting up with switched ram slots/1 stick and took out video card. not working still
its most likely a psu failure but the thing is that it hasnt been a year yet since i built my current pc
CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: ASRock H170M Pro4S Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill NT Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon RX 470 4GB NITRO+ Video Card
Power Supply: Corsair CXM 450W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
the system uses 400w btw
so far i checked:
-no loose outer and mobo cables
-power outlets are fine
-replaced psu cable
-switching i/o back and forth
-didnt install any new components
how do i confirm the cause (i dont know how to confirm if the psu is dead or not bc it doesnt have an LED and i dont have any other modern PSU to replace)
edit: when i plug the psu mobo cable back into the motherboard it still makes a faint humming sound if thats any help
someone make a complation of showstoppers highschool stories
hello OP i have some suggestions. you can try a cherry mx speed keyboard with "fat" o-ring dampeners.
hope this helps!

Unplug your mouse then press and hold the left, right and DPI switch buttons at the same time for about 15 seconds. Plug the mouse back in and open up Steelseries Engine it should now allow you to install the firmware update by clicking the red text in My Gear under the Rival 300 listing.
this used to happen to me when i was running my rival 300 without the firmware
uh ive seen ppl currently run on updated versions of the firmware. 0.32 is rly old
when you know the newest tablets and smartphones have better specs than ur 'craptop'
its time to upgrade
