Just running I'm pretty sure, otherwise the gpu on my shitty little laptop that I play on would have melted through the case by now. I haven't run the client myself since my last match of s13.

Europe has the i-series LANs though, which have their own cash prize pots so ETF2L doesn't actually need to have its own LAN. We don't have any big LANs like that over here that run TF2, so ESEA is all we got.

PVHUD is probably the closest you can get to keeping with the original style while still being minimal and providing the last damage done and exact health of enemies that kill you that's still being updated. I didn't think FrankenHUD was updated anymore, but after poking around the steam group page it looks like it has been updated recently, so you could probably give that one a try as well.

FEAR was good, but it was almost all just jump scares. Amnesia and Penumbra before it were really good at building up tension, basically forcing you to do things you really don't want to do, simply because you HAVE to to proceed. Even after you figure out that the monsters are predictable and in Amnesia's case completely disappear from the face of the earth after not seeing you for a minute or two, the game just paces itself really well and doesn't completely burn itself out with one or two *big* in your face "scares." You're also much more vulnerable, in FEAR you're a super soldier who can slow down time and scissor kick people five football fields away to instakill them. In Penumbra you can barely fight, and in Amnesia you can't fight at all so you're only option when confronted with monsters is to run the fuck away and hide. Don't get me wrong, I loved the original FEAR and still do, but I feel that Amnesia is vastly superior in the Horror department. I don't really like the whole let's play culture that developed around it though, while it did provide the game with many deserved sales and is probably a huge contributor to the fact that a sequel is being made, but I feel that Amnesia is something that's best played alone in order to get the intended experience out of it.

All in all I love Amnesia, as a fan of old school survival horror games it's definitely the best horror game I've played in the post Resident Evil 4 era of horror games.

My grandfather smoked for most of his life, quit when I was about 5 years old or so. He still ended up with lung cancer but was thankfully able to beat it with several months of treatments. I've been offered several times since leaving home for college, but after all he went through I've never taken a single drag of a cig. I don't think I could.
