Fixed the problem thanks to Smitty, if anyone else is having this problem just dl the hl2.exe file from elsewhere and put it in your Team Fortress 2 folder, then exit and re-enter steam and hit install and it should work.

ShyloHave you tried clearing your download cache? Go to steam settings then go to the downloads tab and click the "Clear Download Cache" button. I used to have this problem in the past and this is how I fixed it

nothing really major but i changed all the killfeed icons to be white and black to match the rest of my hud (usually theyre tan even with the icons set to 255 255 255 255)
the timers look really neat
