#1 Northwest Fall LanFest in LAN Discussion

Link to Lanfest site

If anyone is bummed to be missing out on Sacremento's Lanfest and doesn't mind making the trip up to beautiful Portland, Oregon, this LAN will be great. Its on Intel's Hillsboro campus just west of Portland. I know there is a Portland TF2 scene which is probably going to try to go but if anyone else is down let's get this going. Registration is TOMORROW 10/2 so find out quick if you can make it.

Location: Intel Ronler Acres campus in Hillsboro, Oregon.
Date: November 14th - 16th, 2014 (Friday 8:00pm - Sunday 12:00pm)

Yea I did as well. Its all under NDA though so you can only talk about it in their forums. But I will say even in alpha this game is better and more innovative than most games that came out in the past 2 years.

#6 Looking to upgrade build - Recommendations? in Hardware

I've got a high end AMD rig like yours and have also been seeing if its feasible to switch over to intel. The price of the 4770k is just so high that your going to spending 400+ with that cpu and any decent mobo no matter what (unless you are lucky as hell and got a microcenter near you). Right now the gigabyte z87x ud3h is apparently the best band for your buck z87 board out there, seen some pretty good overclocks on it. At pcpartpicker prices that combo is 470 though, could probably go i5 to get it under 400 though.

#49 PC Build Thread in Hardware

To Sideshow: I'd get the R9 270X. As supply of the 7xxx series goes down, the prices of all of them have been going up ever since bitcoin miners started picking them up en masse. If you can afford about
$100 more, an ssd really improves every thing in your system as well. Apart from that it looks great!

To tgb: Same for sideshow goes for you. 8gb of ram is plenty, and the only real bottlenecks in your build at this point are your hdd and gpu. If you can spend the $40+ to get an ssd, instead of another kit of that g.skill, it is really worth it.

#26 CEVO in TF2 General Discussion
-Mike-Paals Put your money where your mouths are people and actually play, im sick of getting ffw's.
Everyone was busy taking their ESEA and UGC more seriously. But if people actually play some CEVO it will be a thing.

Thats what always happens. Preseason: "Lets play cevo! Screw ESEA!" week 3: "Sorry guise ESEA is too important." And taking UGC seriously? Have you seen platinum this season?

#23 CEVO in TF2 General Discussion

I've been in this season of cevo since preseason. We have played one match vs lonely hearts which we got 5-0 on, and since then have racked up 4 ffws. Of the 7 teams left, zero of the teams have played all of their matches. The top team is Bob & Weave (Pyyyour's team) which has 3 wins 5 weeks into the season. Even now after all this has gone down cevo isn't getting the support it should. I remember during the offseason ppl said "Yea CEVO!!!!" and here we are. Put your money where your mouths are people and actually play, im sick of getting ffw's.

Sylvercage-Does this sound alright? I will only be playing/streaming tf2.I was also going to buy an AMD FX-8350 for streaming TF2 but I asked rays, who streams using an 8350, and he said that Intel i5 processors outperform the 8350 in playing and streaming source games.

Now this is my personal build for the future, and I'm looking for help on this. I know nothing about motherboards and basically anything that isn't a cpu or gpu. My budget's at $800 and I wanted use this to stream TF2, is there anything I'm missing like compatibility issues?

Is there any particular reason you aren't going for haswell? Also you haven't listed an aftermarket cpu cooler, so I'm assuming you aren't ocing. If you aren't then save some $$$ and get a non k i5 and non z mobo. As to the performance of the 8350 vs an i5 in source streaming: having a better single core core performance will help in tf2 for sure, but multi-threaded will always beat single threads in streaming.

Does this sound alright? I will only be playing/streaming tf2.

The video card is very weak in the current market. Hopefully you plan to update it soon, if not consider spending a bit more for the 660 ti. Also you may regret gettting only 250 gb of storage. Look for a sale on any seagate or WD drive: 1 tb will usually go down to the price of this drive you have chosen. Unless you need it this second, wait until black friday to buy the parts.
