#753 ESEA S15 NA Open Happenings/Predictions in TF2 General Discussion

quick set of preds for tonight

UP vs AG

big upset win for UP, after yet again another roster switch between owl/slin. The AG/remains match went much closer than i expected. I thought AG would win more convincingly tbh, but they proved to struggle out with the win regardless. With a renewed confidence, i see UP pulling out another win over AG in a close match.

LH vs Yomies

As expected, LH scouts did work in their match vs GoT. From what i saw, their heavies played more coordinated which LH will need against the top seeded teams. Yomies heavies did what i expected - heavy damage and lots of frags which just seemed to overwhelm MG at times. With granary being a more soldier friendly map, this could make for some interesting mids. In the end though, not many teams have found a solution to LH's +forward / meatshot heavy scouts. I see this one ending in a 5-3 game for LH. There is literally no reason why the hearts shouldn't be in the lower bracket final...they may even be the team that causes a massive upset in grands as they have been beating us and meat in scrims recently.

Meat vs qf

Meat stepped it up even with a roster change and dominated over FS more-so than i thought. Goes to show why they are the #1 team. Regardless of the outcome of this match, i fully expect to see them in grand finals. We had a rather messy match with the buds. I don't think either team was really prepared. Metalworks is by far our worse map, and to be honest i don't know if the buds even scrimmed on it. It was pretty much a dm fest for an hour. I wouldn't say either team really played up to their potential, and they had a medic ringer which is probably the hardest class to have as a sub. Luckily we squeaked out the Win in a match that could have easily gone the other way.

For this match, overall we have more experience on Granary individually, but Meat seems to be the up and coming team, and they are hungry to keep their perfect season alive. The ball is in their court here, so i give them the advantage. Also if we lose i expect blink to become vegan and go off on anti-meat hate rants.

#18 60hz vs 120hz in TF2 General Discussion

The most notable thing it helped with is twitch shots - it has a very smoothing effect and makes movement feel more natural (at least to me). The higher end monitors you can even go further and do the lightboost hack, which makes an LCD/LED as close to CRT smoothness as possible (i.e. lag free). It's essentially keeping the 3D strobelight on to reduce all 2D blur.

Apparently the new BenQ "Z" series monitors will be the first to actually include this as a feature instead of having to hack it. They're calling it "Motion Blur Reduction", which is just a fancy way of saying, oh hey you can now pay for something that should have been included all along.

meh i'm bored so i'll throw in my 2 cents. Bunch of great matches this week, really enjoyed being able to watch a few of them.

I really think the meat/flash game will be close...everyone seems to underestimate FS. Whether or not the medic/scout roster switch on meat was temporary or perm, could play a factor here. Though i don't see MM losing, i wouldn't necessarily be surprised if there was an upset here. Flash has been playing great all season, and even better in playoffs.

Our match vs buds could go either way, depending on how they play their roster and how/if we adapter to their sniper. If they keep sean on scout there really should be no reason that they don't make it to the upper bracket finals. tick hopefully has his internet issues fixed by Tuesday because if we have to have spadez or pt play we might as well just stay in respawn and have a pizza party.

mesr's team is insane, they should win pretty convincingly as UP seems to be struggling more than the normal season. Doesn't help that they've had to swap their roster around a bit at the end of the season into playoffs. gucci's are my pic for dark horse in the LB - i have a feeling they may have a big upset on a top seed.

Game of throws is a solid team, but even if smile plays out of his mind, i dont' think they'll contain the romeo/gluck combo...they have just been on fire lately. If the Lonely Heart heavy classes can just play a little more coordinated they could be a top contender in getting to LB finals.

MG played really well against Meat despite the loss, but i think the heavy classes on Yomies have the power to stop MG's scouts. Hugh may have some opportunities to abuse the sight lines as sniper on this map and make some key last defense/push picks. Overall i think panda/manly's dmg will just be too much to overcome, so i'm gonna pick yomies here.

AG had a dominating performance against GoT, then felt the wrath of the best bud lineup. Still impressively, they had several pushes to bud's last..they just couldn't get the caps though and fell apart defensively. Pin/ Al vs snark/scarecrow should be interesting to watch. However AG's heavier classes have the edge in my opinion. Going with AG here.

I watched her stream after i saw that other post. It's like she's a troll, that knows she's a troll, but pretends she doesn't know, and the chat pretends she's an idiot even through they really know she's a troll. Yet her stream constantly has 2500+ viewers every time she's on, and she gets a lot of donations. Pretty sure she's the one having the last laugh whether anyone actually likes her or not.

caleb and zewing both doing Mega Man X, that should be fun as hell to watch.

Also trihex doing Yoshi's Island...one of the most insane games to watch a 100% run on, so much coordination involved it's crazy.

#29 Anderson Silva broken leg in Off Topic

Ugh i was watching that live and almost spit out my drink. When he started screaming on the canvas i felt horrible...even if he comes back he won't be the same. An injury like that takes alot out of you, and he's 38 as it is. Sucks because he had such a legacy behind him and was the only champion that continually finished fights. I do hope he manages a comeback, would like to see him go out on a winning note and not have his career end this way.

Also kinda shitty to not see Weidman get the respect he deserves. Everyone called the first fight a fluke, and then this happened. I still don't see how a knockout is a "fluke"..Silva toyed with him (like he does with all his opponents) but got caught. Out of the entire time between both fights (about 3 rounds total) he won all 3, and dominated in every aspect. He threw a perfect leg check on both kicks this time, and if you didn't see the interview with Silva's trainer...he actually broke the front of his shin on the first checked kick...then fractured both bones on the second checked kick...that's impressive timing to be 2 out of 2 on check's and have that be the result.

#4 What hardware should I upgrade next in Hardware

Other than maxing out your video card (upgrade to a 780ti or some type of SLI/Crossfire configuration) there's not really anything to upgrade as far as gaming purposes are concerned. Unless you plan on playing everything at ultra 1080p or higher, you are fine as is.

I had that same Samsung monitor you have - i loved it other than the fact that it was like looking at a god damn mirror...it reflected everything if any light even remotely touched it. I went to a benq 120hz and was much happier with both the performance and picture when it came to gaming.
