So for the last half year or so, I've been having this issue where my ping will be very unstable while playing TF2. I can be playing on a Stockholm server (I live in Norway, neighbouring country to Sweden) and I will usually have a pretty decent ping (30 to 40-ish), but at random, my ping will jump up to like anything from 200 to 800 for a second or so, before going back down to the usual values. Once it starts, it will keep doing it every 10-or so seconds, for the rest of my session.
It does not happen every time I play, but most of the time. I've taken some screenshots of my netgraph while these spikes occur, and they seem to be different on my graph every time. Sometimes there is a gaping hole in the graph, some times there is a huge red and green wall.
See for yourself here:
Anyhow, whenever one of these spikes occur, my game will freeze for a couple of seconds, then catch up, and I usually find myself either dead or in a different spot, as the server has kept running while I was frozen.
This makes the game unplayable for me a lot of the time, and I was wondering if anyone else knew what I can do to maybe prevent this from happening.
Some quick info:
This happens in other games aswell, such as CS:GO and League.
I am not connected by wire, I have to use Wi-Fi, as my router is on a floor below my room.
(This probably is part of it, but I do not struggle with anything other than games. My internet runs just fine when watching Youtube, twitch, browsing the internet etc.)
The router itself is pretty new and has a solid download and upload rate, so that is not the issue at hand.
My Wireless connection card in my computer is right next to my GTX 970 graphics card, which I assume generates some heat. Might be having a hand in all of this.
Any help at all is highly appreciated!
