I think they are cool because they can have unusual effects which allow me to further express myself in tf2 with another unique weapon choice. I like hot because my play style is high flying and stylish but a player who is more methodical and enjoys outsmarting opposing players may go for a cool weapon and a medic may use the green energy to signify healing. On top of just unusuals the weapon itself further contributes to this unique expression. I think the problem with war paint is the high number of people who run dx 8 hindering the ability to see these weapon cosmetics many of past teammates used war paints that I didn’t know about till checking a stream or watch a demo with them this may be another hindrance to the war paint’s popularity
