defending random crits is not a silly thing to do and advocating for their removal is 100% justified. both sides have a very valid point to bring to the table : the reward.
get a random crit : feel good/bad then forget about it
get killed by one : feel frustrated for a bajillion possible reasons (ks ended etc)
--
i've seen someone mention that they've never witnessed a noob be happy about hitting a random crit. that is probably true. on the other hand you see a million chat binds in pubs about how they're fair and balanced. i've even seen one recently : the guy spammed his bind whenever he got a random crit, and it was an apology. literally apologized for hitting a crit. does that mean it's bad? most likely, yes. BUT.
I feel like we don't put enough thought into discussing the "crits keep newbies interested" argument to properly evaluate it. sure, you won't see them get excited about hitting one. you also have to keep in mind that if they're nooby enough to get excited about a single kill, then they probably don't know what random crits are yet / don't know if they should feel excited about it. you can't exactly always tell if you're new when you still have trouble differentiating the classes, their weapons and why some people have shiny guns and hats and others don't.
tf2 is unique in that aspect: the novelty of the game and all its customization possibilities feel extremely confusing, but the DM aspect of the game is always familiar in a FPS game.
getting kills is the familiar part.
getting killed over and over makes the only familiar part of the game (for noobs) not fun.
so yes i feel there's validity in the "crits keep noobs interested" argument.
remove them anyways. cause crits go both ways.
which reminds me of a story one of my friends whom i tried to get into tf2 told me (the reason he uninstalled the game after 2 hours), he was playing engineer on nucleus and failed to kill a soldier after 6 shotgun shots and died to the whip in one hit.

SpaceCadetAdd 3 "mini" cap points to Middle (You need all 3 to capture Middle)
this is basically 5cp unless you place all 3 points at an equal distance from each team. if one point is closer to each choke then that one will be capped first, turning the map into 5cp.
SpaceCadetThis way, mid-fights are not 2 teams smashing into each other every time. There could potentially be 2-3 straight up team fights for control of Middle before a single Last Push happens.
isn't this also somewhat a stalemate? an endless midfight settled by dm and/or better spawn waves? if you're missing part of your team for whatever reason during a postfight creative teamplay goes down the drain and you lose because of player advantage...

i came here expecting hard aim pootis serbia questions but now I'm actually interested in this and willing to try it even though i don't need to do this at all
when the other option is cp_cardinal... well...
glassdid habib's dad play demoman yet
the only question that matters
well I've been getting honda civic ads for 2 weeks now. u probably have malware/adware...
using incognito to browse porn sites as a teenager also helps in reducing the amoung of shady ads.
nat has really good dm on demo, and whenever she happened to play other classes for a reason or another that trend seemed to continue. i see no reason why she wouldn't be able to play soldier or scout above mid open despite being a true blue demo main.
don't sleep!
