#98 RGL Ringer Fees in TF2 General Discussion
GeneralNick I know why people dislike UGC and myself plus the other 8 staff are committed to rectifying the issues of the past and laying the groundwork to prevent these issues from ever occurring again.

I've been around forever and I don't think the issue is people "disliking UGC". It has to do with the image of your league in this community through all these years.

During the ESEA days, just saying UGC in a 6's related discussion was laughable and used as a joke or degrading comment. If ESEA was the major leagues, UGC wasn't even the minor league. That image of UGC has never changed and probably never will to be honest, its almost like UGC is a typecast actor.

I don't mean to be harsh or shit on the league but that's just the truth in how it is viewed. I actually admire UGC because they have stuck around for so damn long and given players another place to play this game. Its impressive even with that preconception.

#33 shows to binge in Off Topic

Shogun (Television movie series - Samurai Feudal Japan - made in the 80's the acting and production are amazing, I can't say enough good things about this series)

ROME (Should have been bigger than Game of Thrones. Both seasons were fantastic, show was cancelled because of money fuck you HBO)

Justice League Unlimited (The best Justice League cartoon series IMO)

Shaka Zulu (10 episodes, each over an hour long. Takes you through the life of Shaka Zulu, entertaining and worth the time to learn about this man.)

Band of Brothers (Incredible show, worth every second to learn the history behind these heroes.)

#27 Monthly RGL Is Bad Thread in TF2 General Discussion
clckwrkbut then i realized if you trip someone in hockey it's still a tripping violation and if you shoot a nice 3 pointer after the shot clock runs out you get suspended for a month. and real sports are notoriously good with rules so there's really no argument here. sometimes you just have to admit you made a mistake and move on, and in a way you could be thankful that you're given a month to think about it and make sure it doesn't happen again

A stupid comparison that someone said earlier in this thread and does not relate to this situation.
Like I said in my other post, bans like this need to take into account context and the impact it has.

In hockey, if you trip another player, that always has an immediate impact on the play going on at that moment. It is penalized properly and not with a month ban for every tripping call. Nobody said there should be no punishment, but it should fit the offense and this example is weak.
Who the fuck in basketball got suspended for shooting the ball after the shot clock ran out? I'd like to know and read about it.

Rules should be followed and enforced. In some cases examples need to be made to make sure all players are on the level.
If this situation turns out to be recurring with several teams and happens over and over then a league-wide statement of no tolerance is warranted. Let the bans fly after that but reviewing the evidence in this "one-off" case doesn't link up with a 1 month ban.

#4 w key isnt wworking in Hardware

If you don't have the money to replace the keyboard you can always just rebind your WASD keys.

Make it ESDF, its only 1 key to the right and should not have any impact at all.

#3 Soup Thread in Off Topic

My favorite soup is French Onion Soup with melted cheese over the top.

It is really hard to find places that know how to make it correctly. The broth is the key and can be different wherever you go. Some can taste bitter while others are way too sweet. If the cook can find that spot right in the middle of bitter/sweet it is the best soup.

#18 Monthly RGL Is Bad Thread in TF2 General Discussion

I don't agree at all with going 23 seconds in spectator. If this shit happened at any other point in the map then yes he, and his team, should be penalized/forfeited but this was the end of the map and no useful information could have possibly helped his team.

My problem is that I don't understand the reason for a ban. Considering the circumstances, this player and his whole team should be slapped with a warning at most. If his actions had an impact on the result of the match then no problem with the ban.
The RGL page says the ban is for "ghosting". There was no ghosting, you need a better reason. This looks like a lackluster admin decision.

Player bans need to be on a case by case basis. Penalties issued based on the impact it had on the match/players involved.

---This guy went spec for 23 seconds
---The final cap happened 24/25 seconds after he went spec

What fucking information could he have possibly told his team that they did not already see? They were finishing the final cap and had several people inside the last point anyways............. Its not like he relayed sentry gun position or player locations. It's obvious he wasn't ghosting anything.

I'll say again, I don't agree with the 23 seconds in spec and there should be some type of repercussions, such as a warning or documented offense for the entire team. Then if it happens again from anyone on the team it can be properly disciplined. To just issue a month ban under these circumstances is idiotic IMO.

#15 The flaws of 6's in TF2 General Discussion

The flaw never was the 6's playstyle. It was / is the only option available and there is sadly no better way to play this version of Team Fortress.

The flaw is the way TF2 was designed from the beginning. Team Fortress was always a CTF dominated play style that was proven to work on all levels. Every class had their roles to play and CTF always offered the proper flow for match environments.

By comparison, 6's is a terribly slow style and helped to breed the "stalemate" gameplay you see in every 6's match. Sacrifice plays, leap frog tactics and parking the bus are all a result of slow gameplay.

It also didn't help that no valid CTF maps were created for match / league play in the beginning of TF2.

buudThis is now an Al Pacino appreciation thread.

I don't see enough people talking about his Donnie Brasco performance where he just plays an old man who watches animal documentaries at home but teaches Donnie how a wiseguy acts.

alfaWhy would RGL release "proof" when the excuses flowchart kicks in response every time:

1. It was lag
2. Lucky shot
3. I MGE all day
4. But can you prove I was cheating in that clip
5. People can vouch for me (???)
6. I improved (lol)

#1 would have been the old excuse used years ago that "He didn't cheat at LAN so he's legit" but COVID took care of that one for us.

#8 Is kaidus the only one who can do this? in TF2 General Discussion

I believe it is really just as simple as knowing when the sticky explodes, the blast will typically throw the player in the opposite direction. That way you can aim your pipe to where the blast should propel the player. If you look at every example, this is consistent.

Some might be luck or just random but he is a good enough demo for this to be natural aiming for him.
Doesn't work all the time but when it does, it looks fancy as shit.

#8 Lft Medic div-2/div-1 in Recruitment (looking for team)

I don't comment on many LFT threads but I remember playing this guy often during Season 3 in scrims/match.
He was easily one of the best medics in the division and is probably one of the most solid medics LFT right now.

It would be a huge mistake to pass on this player. He literally only wants to play medic, what a rare thing.
