#21 UGC S9 Schedule Released in TF2 General Discussion

The problem with picking maps is that when we released S8's maplist (which is fairly vanilla, and was voted on by team leaders instead of by admins) we had the exact opposite problem - lots of people asking us for the addition of a few custom maps. Most of the maps picked for S9 were some of those that lost by a very small amount of votes in that S8 map pick, plus involvement and suggestions for more custom maps by the community, and now we're getting a similar backlash. Upward was included in the early stages of conversation but was ultimately dropped. Personally I have no idea where the pl_waste idea came from but it won't count towards anything next season anyways.

No matter what gets picked there will always be vocal opposition. While we're still growing and learning we're trying to keep the map pool deep, but very few of these maps are brand new to anyone who's been playing HL since at least S6.

#179 Pre-season highlander gossip in TF2 General Discussion
frknI believe it was posted earlier in this thread that Marxist had convinced Torbull ( big wig at ESEA) to give away the fees and premium as prizes.

I can't read

Let's pop back over to Highlander gossip - anyone know if anything's happening to mTs or what's changing with the -ts- roster?

You don't understand. ESEA was going to be giving premiums to these teams for free. It would cost UGC nothing.

If ESEA would be willing to do that we'd probably have nothing against it. I think the implication I was getting (and the source of the misunderstanding) was that we'd be paying for players to go play in another league. If such a "merger" were to occur it'd probably be nothing but a benefit for the entirety of the NA community

The only problem with giving away freemium is that we're a free league - besides site traffic ad revenue, we're simply not making enough money to sponsor a large number of players. It's not an idea we're necessarily opposed to, but simply unable to carry out. What little donations and revenue do come in end up being used for our primary focus - our Highlander division.

heinLOL! What is this about me being cut?

Aww, come on Hein, saying ts is disbanding isn't as fun as calling you a bad medic

kiriharbleu is an invite medic. i don't think anyone should be surprised that he's better at the class than someone who has only ever played a much less competitive game format >.>

Not sure if IM counts

m4risaharbleu healed about 40% more

When your players are taking more damage they need more heals. There are games where our Medic heals 5k+ less than the opposing Medic simply because we're laying on more damage than the other team. That doesn't make the other Medic better, just busier

Also this post will be taken as a jab against Harbleu or pro-Hein and that isn't my intention. I'm not even sure that you guys took more damage, I'd have to look at the logs

#1 HL - The Regime recruiting Medic/Demo/Spy (Plat) in Recruitment (looking for team)

After a successful season the Regime will be scrambling up our roster a little bit due to some real-world commitments our starters will have come 2013. I want to roster up to make tR competitive in a higher division next season.

Currently I'll be considering these classes with Silver/Plat experience:

- Starter Medic
- Starter Demoman

The players that started these classes last season are either moving around in where they want to play or focusing on ESEA (they'll still be on the roster)

I will keep this list updated as the offseason wears on.

#11 ESEA - Less than 4 days left in TF2 General Discussion

I clicked to pay my team fee, but it's stuck in "Not Paid" limbo and it says I can try again in an hour.

I get this - Your payment cannot be completed because the following users have either already paid, or are in the process of paying: TF2Moose

I never submitted payment details, I'm guessing it's assuming the same Payment information that I used to pay for Premium?

What can I do?

#15 S10 HL Maps? in TF2 General Discussion

We're discussing the maps right now in the admin forums, we'll be releasing our tentative map list soon. We're taking suggestions, so if you have any maps you haven't seen for a while that you'd like to have considered for S9 post them in our Suggestion Forums and we'll take a look.

#30 Just a reminder/heads-up about CEVO in TF2 General Discussion
ThomasduhtrainYea tf2 players know ugc, but outside of tf2 Cevo is more known

UGC is a TF2-only league, which is why we don't get as much attention to leagues like ESEA which also covers CS and LoL.

TwitchTVJohnCEVO as a brand can help TF2. People know CEVO. People don't know UGC.

I wouldn't say we're unknown since we have over 7000 players in our Highlander league alone.

However having CEVO open up as well would probably help everyone improve their product even more and allow players to play wherever they feel most comfortable

#12 Growing competitive tf2 in TF2 General Discussion

Forget r/tf2 if you're looking at Reddit, there are 5,500 people in the r/truetf2 subreddit that are actually interested in comp and not posting pictures of dead pyros and bad unusual unboxes.

Go make yourself known over there, you'll get a higher attendance turnout.

#23 Suggestion to the UGC HL league in TF2 General Discussion

Scholar, one of the problems with moving non-Platinum match nights to Sunday is that it messes with scrim schedules. Most teams don't scrim Friday/Saturday because some team members have other things going on during the weekend. Sunday is one of the big scrim nights for just about everyone, allowing teams to make their final adjustments for Monday's game.

If you moved the match night then other teams would have to figure out a new practice schedule. The teams that don't care to scrim will be watching Highlander casts, but many that do like to practice would end up using Monday as a scrim night, meaning that the viewership of the HL casts wouldn't go up by quite as much as you expect.

#17 Highlander PUGs in TF2 General Discussion

To SDogg:

Have you ever checked out the crit-fail gaming league's PUG system? It's pretty neat - you log in through Steam on their website, which puts you into a lobby where you pick your classes. Once 2 captains and 18 players have joined up, captains can pick their classes and their maps.

Granted, the Crit-Fail's system is being used right now for a much lower level of play than .nahl but it's also a pretty clean system that you might enjoy.
