why does skill level (at least perceived skill level) matter here?
unless you have been in the same server as moose 24/7 how do you know he never cheated on a map/round in a pub or elsewhere?
the funny thing (to me) is had he not screwed up and closed or deleted a thread on UCG, he would probably have been allowed to come back as an admin/team leader or member over there

I know you won't care what I say, but let me explain what I know:
The only thing I've ever installed besides vanilla TF2 was OpenPlugin, and that was back in March to test it and make sure that it wasn't a wallhack (and something that UGC ought to be concerned with). I didn't use it in normal/match play, and the way you guys are talking is making it seem as though Valve is okay with the plugin. I'm just as confused as anyone else here is.
I've been working as closely as I can with Valve to get this reversed, but they are still unwilling to give me any information as to the grounds of my ban, so I can't really figure out what to do now. I've heard through the grapevine that I'm not the only community admin that was VAC banned this last batch (one of the head admins of one of the game's largest pub communities also got the banhammer last week). Hopefully this is something that I can hopefully figure out and get reversed, but Valve doesn't seem willing to budge and apparently they don't even consider reversals.

Rest assured I'm upset enough about this incident that unless I can get this reversed I'll probably be taking a break from TF2 for a while.

djci got vac banned on accident before. it took them <24 hours to fix it, because valve are pretty good about that sort of thing. it didn't require me to file some sort of grand appeal to valve because i didn't actually use a hack. i'm pretty sure moose would have been unbanned by now if there were some misunderstanding or mistake
im pretty sure that if he didnt hack, he would not have closed/deleted/locked/removed/whatevered a thread on UCG's forums about him hacking

I can't comment on the Marisa thing, but as far as this goes, even if it is found that his VAC-ban is legit, as long as there's no evidence of him using it in matches then I don't see why he would need to be banned. What he does in a pub is his business.
I don't see why Moose should get banned as long as his "cheating" didn't occur during official matches.
So far Moose's post VAC actions have been impeccable; stepping down from both his team position and admin position immediately. We really are just going to have to hurry up and wait on this one.

edit: downfrags? if any other player was VAC banned, what would have happened is that the player would have been banned when it happened, and reinstated ASAP if the VAC ban was overturned.
because he is an admin they are "letting him step away" and trying to decide what to do.

but i got confirmed that there was a game vs TLR happening last season on turbine that was fishy and they found evidence of him cheating back then
