If your goal is to watch the demos to learn something from it then "outstanding performances" aren't what you're looking for.
Download a couple of demos without looking at stats and go through all of them. No point in looking at a demo where the player is never punished for the mistakes they make and just roll mid to last 5 times

Wait so what exactly are you requesting? I don't really understand what you want to happen because you're not very clear in the OP.

That's the same as saying "split pugchamp into Open and IM-Invite". That's basically what freakpugs is in its current state already. It doesn't fix the issue, it just changes the url you'll have to type to see how dead it is.

Sure, but that won't be enough to create a stable playerbase again.

I'm from EU so I never played freakpugs so I don't know what made it die. I do have experience with managing a weekly mix group, which eventually also died out but had a stable playerbase for around a year.
If you want to revive freakpugs let your friends know.
Gather everyone, make a steam group, post events on the steam group, add up, stream it so more open players know (a simple title as "add up to freakpugs" works. It'll show up on the TFTV sidebar too), advertise it on TFTV (works for the tf2stadium lobbies Gatsan is trying to keep going), make a discord server

If freakpugs doesn't function properly then add up to pugchamp or mixchamp instead. Or just get a serveme server and make your own mix like I used to. If you have 2 people that can captain in pugchamp you can just add 12 people up and start playing. Even if you don't have captains you can still add up and sooner or later 2 random open players who can will add up as well

edit: was unaware freakpugs completely shut down. My point still stands though. You don't need pugchamp to split into a lower and higher level. All you need to do is gather people and add up to pugchamp. The higher level players will either dodge or have no choice but to pick you guys.
Or just do what I did and gather 12 people in a serveme server for an inhouse mix or pug. Plenty of the freakpugs people are looking for a new thing to play so you already have the playerbase for it. Just need to gather them in a discord server and play

Was about time for it to be removed though. Too many people dislike it and I was expecting it to happen for about 3 seasons now.

Also my friends Stneve, Mrjelly and Zoot all had cameras with them so expect those within the next couple of weeks when they are developed. Pretty sure they had a combined 10 cameras, 6 belonging to Stneve

To be sure you could exec comanglia's cfg, then exec b4nny's cfg.
Perhaps there are commands that he used in the past and were never included in the cfg

edit: since you mentioned shiny textures take a look at mat_phong and make sure the value is 0. Not the only command related to that but it's the most common one people have at 1 in similar situations

I'd agree that the weapon icons, though really cool, were just clutter. That HUD in general is a masterpiece though

Less badlands mid SFM, more frag vids and crowd. Not a dab kinda guy but I was part of the group that made drawings of emotes and other things for chat to spam. Was a lot of fun to do and it seemed to keep chat entertained during the downtime
