Spam damage isnt completely irrelevant, it does serve a purpose. It deters players from getting aggresive or pushing through. Without that pressure they can just walk through. But you are right, the best way to meassure game impact isnt through logs, but by watching a game and analyzing fights etc.

Also, shouldnt there be people holding the choke? You cant really dodge splash in such a confined space. Like even in uber pushes, you can pop much later on a soldier because they have much more health. That + easily accessible aoe damage was why a pocket usually leads a push i thought?

Mumahow about instead of nerfing scout we just put demo stickies back to when they were good and decrease the clip to 6 and then one class wont be the strongest by a massive margin and another class wont be completely awful and unfun

My experience from playing etf2l couple months back and watching prem games (like s21 finals) isnt that scouts dominate the game. I'm under the impression that soldiers more often top damage and are just as likely to get frags. Granted, scouts can avoid more damage in general, but cant push through a choke or initiate a fight anywhere near as effectively. Both classes have different positive and negative attributes and are also evenly matched in a 1v1 overall.

Now, before the radius nerf, scouts had trouble going aggressive and having impact because of how much easier sticks where to hit. One of them hitting hurts a scout more than a soldier. Low frag counts and pretty damn passive play is how i remember it, except for occations of clockwork going ham :)

Demos still have impact on the game, they have the best mid range damage potential (i think?), perform excellently against height-advantage and their traps are crucial for defence. Just from watching some matches i think its pretty obvious that no class has a massive advantage. Great players of any of the 3 can have huge game impact and destroy teams seemingly singlehandedly. Ive never seen anyone rape a team as hard as shadowburn did on some process game against one of the good eu teams couple months back holy shit. Cant remember specifics though, maybe someone knows the one?

Right so apologies for the massive post and whatever, it's an interesting topic and i couldnt resist. This is all my impression and opinion btw, and i wouldnt want anyone to think im trying to state facts.

FlickerI personnally like playing sniper in dm, but at the same time I think it would be best if it was banned.
When you're far away from the sniper, he destroys the shit outta you. When you're close to him, he can't do anything, it's just too easy to kill him.
Just practice sniper in pubs. I don't think a DM server is the best place for that.

You have a point, but soap dm servers is still the best place to practise against competent soldiers and scouts imo. That's where they all gather up.

Pub servers (including community ones) tend to be pretty low skilled. At best there is one good guy, a few meh ones and the rest play like they should be boiled and served with fish.

I recently noticed that i couldn't select sniper over on Tryhard Brigade. Slot was empty and all. Then i headed over to the less popular Simrai soap dm server and same thing there. Has there been some kind of a general patch to the mod which disallows sniper or what?

Hopefully we will see a HL matcmakingsystem, but even a ranked 12v12 with class limits of like 2 of each class or something would be really cool.

Ofc 6s matchmaking would be the very best, but that will only happen in my dreams...

GetawhaleOh by the way, this might have been the cast you're thinking of. This one is the genesis of the #HotLange trend. Lange calls the teams hot at the start and it just sort of went from there.

Actually the one i was thinking off was on viaduct, mixup vs something. And platinum ran ScoRes hehe. It was also really late and at the end of a marathon casting session. Could have been finals maybe?

But anyway, thanks for this link, will watch this now. And thumbs up to you for being a really entertaining and interesting caster. One of my favorites, for sure! :)

These two gents casted a few games during the dreaded sticky nerf period, and since then I haven't seen em do it together again. The cast I saw was one of the best ones I've ever seen. Maybe it was partly because of how silly the game they casted was, but their chemestry was amazing. They cracked jokes and laughed and you couldn't help but getting caught up. Anyway, I'd love to see them work some more together, this time ofc more serious matches.

SeagullThe match vs froyo last night had more stalemates than my entire previous week of games (including the bo3 vs epsilon in our showmatch). The majority of posters in the update threads want slower gameplay, and that's what they're going to get.

Personally, I'm disappointed with the recent patch. I was enjoying coming up with new ways to defend in transition fights as well as new ways to push without uber, but now we're back to the same old uber gameplay. However, the sticky nerf significantly increased the skill cap of roamer, so I'm a bit biased.

My problem with the nerf was that it changed the core of the game. But then again, thats the reason that some people (including you i guess) liked the patch. I for one gotta say that I found that match amazingly fun to watch. You guys played freakin fenomonal in 2nd half, and I'm pretty sure most peoples' jaws dropped :D. Imo, those last really fast rounds where so much fun because of the previous slower ones. I don't know, I've always really liked the meta. Its what made me pick up the game after all.

And what do you mean with the previous nerf increasing roamer skill cap?

The point of my comment was as follows; a perfect sticky (i.e det'd under someones feet) now does less damage than a sloppy rocket. And considering what platinum & co was saying, i just found that important to point out. Have i made myself clear? :))
