#91 bombs in boston in Off Topic
kirbyI don't know if someone mentioned this but there was a total of 5 bombs so far, at least that I know of. The first 2 that exploded and injured 22/23 and killed 2, and a third that exploded at the library but killed no one, only leaving the library aflame. The other 2 were dismantled.

edit: I guess a bomb exploded at the subway too???

This guy won't shut the fuck up about it being a conspiracy. He's getting slammed pretty hard about it.

The library fire was an electrical fire caused by wiring issues in the new wing. It is unrelated to the explosions.

brownymasterTurinConsidering the amount of security this marathon gets due to it being high-profile, the fact that someone managed to plant bombs shows that there was a significant blunder in securing the marathon.I don't think any amount of security can prevent someone from bringing a bomb in over a 26 mile stretch especially considering the area. I don't think anybody expected asshole(s) to bomb people anyways.

They actually do secure the whole 26.2 mile length and have security cameras along the way, and police stations. They do this due to the huge amount of spectators, and along with preparing for normal mob activities, they also do some counter terrorism according to the Boston Police. They should expect this.

#4 Panzer confirmed for Aspergers in TF2 General Discussion

I do, but the repetitiveness of this is admittedly annoying. I don't care about the jokes.

#161 ESEA S14 Map Discussion in TF2 General Discussion
hookyThread I made a few days ago to get people to scrim Edifice: http://teamfortress.tv/forum/thread/6887-need-teams-to-seriously-test-new-maps/

It's really important that any new map gets extensively tested in scrims in addition to pugs. Ashville was tested in pugs but I don't believe anyone ever scrimmed it prior to voting it in. What we really need are players with lots of influence (bl4nk, djc, anyone in the top half of invite) to scrim new maps, as they will influence the vote heavily (which is what happened with Ashville).

Right now, I'd keep the same maplist this season, with the appropriate updates being made (Metalworks to rc4 when scorpio finishes that, Process to rc3?)

About a pro version of Granary or at least one with fixed spawns: it probably shouldn't happen and probably will not be done by most mappers. It is just a pain to rework, according to them. Decompiling the map results in lost data and the SDK version is out of date. The SDK version is missing quite a few things, like the props at mid just out of choke and the third garage door. These could be fixed, but first we'd need a list of changes from the SDK version to the current version. Here's the update history: http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Granary_(Control_Point)#Update_history

We can ignore the latest update as it added a useless prop to the skybox. This means we're at least behind 1 update, but I assume the SDK version hasn't been updated since prior to the August 13, 2009 patch; I'm assuming that's when said props at mid were added.

Alternatively, we could just make a new map to replace it, structured similarly.

There is a fixed respawn granary, cp_granary_fixed_respawns

#7 Drums in Off Topic

Work on rudiments (A LOT), and basic rock 4/4 patterns. Work on hand/foot seperation by doing a 2/3 poly-rhythm or something similar. One thing is having time in your head. Also, even if you're a god like Neil Peart, badly tuned drums will sound bad, depending on the genre you try playing, I can give you good tunings.
