dashnerMahoney, doing something similar to GXL (reserving an entire block for TF2 players) might be wise depending on how big the attendance list gets.
While we would love to have all of the different communities sit together, reserving several tables just isn't an option anymore. Over the past 10+ years that we have been throwing these LANs, groups have been reserving blocks of seats for their gaming communities. Unfortunately many people in those groups waited until the last minute to buy their tickets/didn't buy them at all and because of this, it's no longer acceptable to reserve large quantities of seating anymore on good faith alone.
Keep in mind that unlike the GXL, FITES has a seating chart that you can access and use to reserve your seat the second you purchase your ticket. We created and implemented the new group pricing scheme with gaming communities like yours in mind. Not only will the group buy system save you and your friends/teammates a lot of money, but it will also allow you to easily sit together with the new ticket management system.
We received a lot of compliments from your community last year and we're really looking forward to the TF2 community coming back out in 2015. We even had a couple of "non-competitive" attendees tell us how impressed they were with the skill level of several of the TF2 players.
If you can, take advantage of those group buys guys and start claiming tables. We will see you all in March.
PS- Happy Holidays. I hope Santa brings you all lots of toys.
Lets just leave it open. We can try to move folks around once everyone has purchased a ticket if need be
TheFragileMaybe reserve N if you can? I know for a fact we'll fill up at least one more table but that probably will not happen for another month.
I can reserve N; however, you cannot sit down while the seats are reserved. I wish there was a way to get around this but we are using the LANFest system. The system works OK for a specific gaming group because they tend to buy all of their tickets at one time. We unlock the table and they sit down (or we sit them). In this situation it would be a little bit of a hassle since you guys are buying your tickets separately and at different times. If I reserve the table for you guys, you will have to let me know when everyone has purchased their tickets. Then I can unlock the table for you to sit.
It seems like you guys might have enough to fill up table N too. Would you like me to see if I can reserve that table for TF2 players so you don't end up spread out?
Edit - Nevermind. It looks like you guys are having no problems sitting together.
ParagonDoes anyone know how you are supposed to actually print your ticket? The OP says you would receive a PM with a code and link to download the ticket(s), but what I got was an email with what looks like a barcode with a code under it and a download for the waiver. Is there something I'm missing?
FITES staff member here. It is great to see how excited you all are for the LAN!
Paragon - Print out the email you received from LANFest that contains the barcode. That barcode is what we will scan to check you in at the door. We can look you up without it; however, the check-in process will be much quicker if you bring it with you.
