i think objectively platinum and the gold/silver remakes are the best pokemon games
HOWEVER black/white are the best rpg games
black/white are the only games that really go beyond just being a pokemon game and they dont get enough credit for that
i didnt like the gen 3 remakes that much cause they are imo (and never would be) as good as pokemon emerald (for a tonne of reasons but mostly due to my nostalgia towards emerald)
one of my main gripes with the new games is how the artstyle is really simple and child friendly. Its hard to be scared about a world ending threat when everything you see looks like toys that you played with when you were five. Gen 5 games are the best looking pokemon games for this reason.
