Ruptured appendix, not fun.

DAE le rap today is le crap??????
Keeping on topic and not turning this into a defener circlejerk, album was just alright for me. Loved "DNA." and "DUCKWORTH." but I'm not feeling a lot of the beats on here, or tracks like "YAH." where he's almost singing. Maybe it'll grow on me, but for now I'm a little disappointed.
Gonna try and put some lesser known favorites of mine:
Tonedeff - Polymer (2016)
One of my favorite albums of last year, the beats on here have sort of a 65daysofstatic/Swans feel at times, and Tonedeff's rapping is incredible. Tons of complex rhyme schemes while never falling into "lyrical, spiritual, miracle" territory.
Thurisaz - Scent of a Dream (2004)
A mix of black metal, prog metal, even some death metal, this is definitely my favorite metal album of all time. One of the most beautiful metal albums I've heard as well, I can play this any time and love the shit out of it.
Okkervil River - Black Sheep Boy (2005)
Great indie rock with one of the most impressive and underrated singer/songwriters in the genre, Will Sheff. The music isn't too revolutionary, but always solid, and Sheff's voice and lyrics always make up for it.
Forgotten Tomb - Songs to Leave (2002)
Best depressive black metal album I've heard. Great riffs, powerful vocals (although they did take some time to grow on me) and it never overstays its welcome. Not a huge fan of that subgenre from what I've heard, but this is definitely a gem.
