#1 evil rgl in TF2 General Discussion

**First and foremost, I would like to emphasize that this forum post is for the primary purpose of open discussion and the hopes of corrective action regarding the recent bans of Faris and R4bbit. I am NOT writing this forum post for the purpose of witch hunting RGL Staff, rather I write this to point out some of their careless mistakes. This post does NOT condone the trolling done on RGL Forums or any actions previously done.**

**Furthermore, I ask that anyone who opposes the actions taken by the RGL Staff regarding this situation to remain respectful and composed when commenting on this post so as to not bring cause for it to be deleted. Thank you.**

---
**FOR CONTEXT:** If you are currently unaware with the drama circling around RGL lately, I advise you to read the Maggie TFTV thread and the BBL Forum Post for information, as that will not be this posts primary focus.

Today on Monday September 9th, 2024, both Faris and r4bbit have been banned indefinitely for 1 year. For anyone who is new to RGL or unfamiliar with either player, both Faris and R4bbit are Main/Adv Highlander players well regarded within the community, neither of which have any disciplinary history. Both players were banned for posting the "Which Chipmunk is getting the best head?" shitpost on the Galaxy LFT. The reason behind the ban stated by RGL is *"Posting NSFW Content depicting underage characters to harass player(s) on the RGL Forums."* (Keep in mind, there were no people depicted in these images. They are literal chipmunks.) For comparison, reading off the ban history of players Maggie (aka aryanne) and Adam (who sexually assaulted someone) you can note that not only do these ban reasons seem less alarming, Maggie's ban has yet to have actually happened. The bans on Faris and R4bbit scream hypocrisy. These two players with no disciplinary history have been slandered as predators, while Maggie, someone who has been revealed to possess some extremely disturbing behavior such as using profile pictures from a questionable game (more details in the TFTV thread linked above), has been seemingly protected by staff, receiving only a temporary probation with no reasoning for the investigation stated on their RGL profile. What both Faris and R4bbit did lacked severity, but the staff decided to ban both of these players from everything RGL related for an entire year while including a misleading ban reason, instead of their original two week forum ban they had initially received. This ultimately comes off incredibly spiteful.

The actions taken by the RGL staff towards this entire situation has highlighted their incompetence and immaturity. It feels as though RGL staff is dramatizing what R4bbit and Faris did in order to deliberately defame and tarnish their character, practically ruining their reputations in the eyes of the community. The inconsistency of stated ban reasonings on the official RGL website indicate a weak or even baseless procedure of enforcing discipline towards players. The staff also seems to have a hard time taking criticism, as multiple people have been either muted or outright banned from the RGL discord and forums for trying to point out their ineptitude. The most notable example of this is Mothership. In response to the discussions arising on the forums and RGL discussions, he seemed unable to take any criticism on the Maggie situation and instead silenced those who spoke about the topic. In fact, looking over what Mothership has said on the topic up until this point, it seems as though he would rather defend a predator than give people a proper platform to speak.

I believe the best way to resolve this situation is to remove the ban reasons stated on both of their profiles at absolute minimum. Since both of these players have a lack of disciplinary history they should have their bans removed, however, since I do not see that happening I believe RGL should lower the ban time. Moving forward, I believe the staff needs to find better ways to deal with their community. Allowing players a platform to speak in this league is very important because without the players there is no league. I hope moving forward that the staff can try to bridge the gap between themselves and the player base.

**Below are statements given to me by both Faris and R4bbit regarding this situation**

*"I apologize for the distress I caused by posting the Alvin meme on the forums. I understand why I was banned from said forums, however, I believe that the league ban was excessive. For one, I’d like to point to my lack of disciplinary history in all four years that I’ve been in RGL. I’ve been a relatively harmless individual in the community who’s never had malicious intentions nor expressed anything particularly malicious to my fellow community members. The meme I posted is a one-time instance of me partaking in trolling. Also, I’d like to highlight that the ban reason attached to my sentence has very severe implications and casts a negative and misconstrued light on what really happened. One, it paints me as a predator when I am not and have never been. It also gives the wrong impression to people who have never interacted with me prior by perpetuating a false image of who I am."* - Faris

*"I have been playing the game for RGL as far as I can remember. I have made many friends on my path to becoming a part of the community. I'm overall just weirded and confused by the recent actions of RGL head that let a community turn against them and have made no public effort to become more open other than constant blank lies. I think the best days of RGL are long behind, and I will miss the players if my ban is not revoked."* - r4bbit
