#14 Scout looking s14/cevo mid-low? in Recruitment (looking for team)

The definition of a good scout, insane DM, decent gamesense, can 2v1 scouts (have done it more than once in our scrims), great at cleaning up without overextending, very dedicated and very active.

We were sorry to lose him for 2 weeks because of real life circumstances, we had to find another scout to replace him, we'd like to keep him as backup for s13 but he really deserves a starter position.

tranchemusicBut I have seen you play

I mean, sure tf2lobbies are casual bullshit, but if you can't even do well at those how is anybody expected to believe you have "mid-open" dm?

You sir have absolutely no fucking clue of what you're talking about.

#66 My Naughty List - Are You on iT? in TF2 General Discussion

As someone who plays with 160 ping average I can tell you this, practicing with high ping is good, you can only do better on lower ping servers.
On matches you will not always have ideal ping or lag conditions, wouldn't you want to be prepared for the worst case situation?
Just my two cents

#35 Solution to gaming with cold hands in Off Topic

I use a fingerless glove on the right hand; dries my hand from the sweat on sumer and keeps it warm on winter. I also have a friend that wears some kind of wool sleeve on winter.

The reason I started using it was because I had the same problem, I used to play in a bedroom in which the desk with my mousepad was right next to a window with metalic blinds instead of curtains, my hand got really cold on winter.

Also my hand is kinda small for my deathadder so the glove actually helps with the grip.

Yes, it was helpful, thank you for doing it. Not a lot of questions to be answered, but you said some very useful tips.

#16 G400 > Deathadder? in Hardware

I've had a deathadder for like 2 years now, I haven't been very careful with it and it still works perfectly. Good for tracking, good for palm grip, have mouse4 as mumble talk key and it feels comfortable. I don't find it heavy at all, sometimes I even think it's a bit too light even. The wheel is not that precise sometimes, but I barely use it.

I also have a blackwidow, the cheapest one. I don't think it's worth the price. It's too big, and too heavy. Gaming response time of 1ms barely makes any difference, macros are not that useful for tf2 except if you're a binds/scripts spammer. Other than that, it's as good as any mechanical keyboard should be in everything key-pressing related, keys are responsive and it feels comfortable.

#16 they made another in TF2 General Discussion

I think the crit plays and lucky shots are fine, we don't see the value on them as we can tell that it doesn't take that much skill to make them and is more of a right circumstance thing, but they are valuable to the non-competitive player who just finds that a crit demo destroying a whole clustered HL team is awesome.
And that's actually the kind of audience that eXtv has to target, because they're the guys we'd like to get into comp tf2; we are already on it, no need to blow our own horns. I think that's also the profile of the common subscriber of the CommFT youtube channel too.

And that's how I got into comp tf2 btw.

#16 Getting into competitive play in TF2 General Discussion

First of all, Congratulations, you've come to the right place. This is a community where you can find everything related to competitive tf2 if you ask the right questions.

There are basically two formats of tf2 that are considered to be competitive: 6v6 and Highlander (or 9v9). They can both be played in the regular maps that you're used to play in pubs, but they differ in the classes restrictions. 6v6 is played with 2 scouts, 2 soldiers, 1 demo and 1 medic per team, and 9v9 is played with one of each class per team. What you've been playing in lobbies were highlanders, and they're considered to be less fast paced and more disorganized (in low levels of competition) than 6v6, whereas 6v6 is very skill demanding and a single death of someone in the team might be very important for the outcome of a round.

For starters you should keep playing lobbies, that's what I used to do when I found out about comp tf2; eventually you'll find out that you're not going anywhere playing them and then is when you should move on to newbiemixes, tf2mix, tf2.pug.nahl and tf2.pug.na. You can find all the info about those in this site somewhere. Also, if you see the right sidebar of the site there's a tab titled Active Servers, you will find there some very cool servers where you can play with other people from this community and improve your skill by playing in DM and MGE servers.

Wish you luck, this is a good read btw:

Edit: You can also watch streams, there's usually people willing to answer your questions
