KapowwI agree that college isn't always necessary but I think you're going a little overboard about how you get a "meaningless diploma" and "no actual experience". They almost certainly help if you're pursuing an employable subject as well as providing a good return on your investment. (Sorry fine arts & history).
the problem is once you hold your first real job your diploma really doesnt mean anything. obviously the education itself can help a lot for sure, but in many cases youre just as well off looking for an internship while working for a couple years and getting experience + education + money through that instead, especially if you dont have rich parents paying for your college
this is what i have been told by multiple people with 10+ years of career experience

the fact that people are +fragging this just shows how delusional the scene is, everyone is either 14 or like a 25 year old autistic IT worker who will make at most 30k a year for the rest of their lives
i dont know how youve had enough experience to make such a decisive call (im assuming your whole argument is making wild generalizations about the community as a whole to depersonalize the debate and allowing you to play the victim when people argue with you, as per usual), but i personally am holding a job at a startup with part-time pay that will most likely launch me into a potential career in less than 4 years, and i will get actual experience to put on my resume. at the same time, i will be making money instead of getting into massive debt over a largely meaningless diploma
college can be very useful but it is by no means necessary
