I worked as a lifeguard throughout high school and college. I don't regret it at all.
There's nothing particularly wrong with not having any goals in life, especially at 19. Most of the super-motivated 19 year olds that I have met have had their identity chosen for them by parents, religious leaders, etc. I cry for them a little bit because they're doing "what's expected of them," e.g., "I'm going to be a doctor because my mom is a doctor and so was my grandpa." However, I think it's a far better decision to find that which excites you. Community college is as good a place as any to try and figure that out.
I would suggest taking pride in whatever it is you're doing. If you're doing work that you are proud of you will feel more motivated. It's easy to coast. Don't do it. Thoreau said "[t]he mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation." If you can avoid doing that then, I think, you'll be well ahead of your peers.
I've had really positive experiences so far. While the coaching at times is sparse - I imagine it's hard to coach new players and focus on playing simultaneously - I'm very thankful for all the work that goes into keeping this up and running. Huge thanks Thomas, VickM, and tragic who have been largely responsible for organizing things when I've been on. And more thanks to Cheeris, Cyen, Rex, and Sigma for being wonderful coaches and keeping the game atmosphere fun and constructive.
