#18 theatre in Off Topic
DifferWhen I was growing up, I did a lot of community theater, but it was mostly because my mom taught voice and was always a leading lady--Annie in Annie Get Your Gun, Kate in Kiss Me Kate, even Cio-Cio-san in Madama Butterfly--so I got dragged into it. I really liked singing and dancing, but theater itself was more her thing than mine. It's kind of a trip because people in my hometown often ask if I'm still performing when I visit, but I'm way into math and science instead...

My mom and I actually got one real gig together for a summer when I was 13 or 14, and I got the chance to talk to a bunch of actors trying to make it professionally. They told me, "If you can be happy doing anything else, do it," so I took their word for it. I did spot one of them in a minor role on Orange is the New Black later on, though, so I guess he's still at it.

I think my favorite role was Little Red in Into the Woods.

In my mind, theatre is one of those things that you really have to have a passion for in order to be happy doing it--it's often a ton of work that can easily burn you out if it's not your thing. It's great that you've found your passion though

Also, I can't say I'm not jealous that you got to do Into the Woods. It's one of my all-time favorite shows and I want so badly to do it one day

avaiihnim not big into theatre but i saw finding neverland on Broadway as part of a school show choir trip and it really was incredible

That show was one of the few that inspired me to really start getting into theatre when I saw it on Broadway and I used a song from it to audition for my first-ever out-of-school show so it holds a special place for me

wruI also would love to see A Streetcar Named Desire or just see any Broadway show thanks to Birdman

anything by tennessee williams is incredible honestly

translucentfecesIt's kind of intense to commit to watching because it is actually 99% music/musical dialogue, but the way it's structured is so interesting and the story is beautifully told.

I've recently been on a kick of listening to/watching sing-through shows so I know what you mean there's something about the format that makes them really fascinating

Getawhaleas some might guess from watching my stream, acting has been a lifelong thing for me

have you done any professional productions recently? What was the experience like? How would you compare doing the live improv events to a scripted show?

not expecting there to be much crossover on this forum but do there happen to be any other theatre nerds in tf2?

post in this thread what your favorite plays/musicals are and what shows you've done in the past or are looking to do in the future

#17 Adjustments made to global whitelist in News

whitelist will probably need to be adjusted in the future and as long as the leagues are willing to respond to feedback from the players quickly this should be a fine starting point
