For anyone that lives in the U.S. and is arguing about the moral righteousness/lack thereof regarding drugs, consider this: recreational drugs are all about choice and freedom. Personally, I am all for leaving people to their own devices and 'enhancing' their realities with the use of drugs, so long as they do so responsibly and without harming others. I quite envy other European countries that have sensibly categorized various drugs and have made various drugs that are illegal in the States legal. I'd also like to believe most people of our generation have progressed along to that type of thinking as well.
With that being said, the reality is that most of these recreational drugs, at least in this nation, are illegal. Whether they are rightfully illegal or not is beside the point. This means that those that sell or distribute drugs at the higher levels, those who make a business/cartel out of it are likely some of the most morally corrupt/inept people in existence. Whether or not you become dependent/addicted to the drug is a moot point as well, the fact of the matter is that their business is being supported by anyone who buys their drugs.
Even in a perfect world where nobody got addicted, the fact remains that the very criminal nature of these drug kingpins lend to other types of heinous crimes such as mass human trafficking of the sexual and labor-related nature and just promote violence and ignorance in lower-income cities in general.
I support people's freedom of expression through the use of drugs, but I will not support the monsters that distribute them illegally and continue this vicious cycle. This is why I would never buy drugs of that nature in the U.S., because who knows what type of violent activity I could be promoting. Just because others are too ignorant to see the truth of it all doesn't mean you have to turn a blind eye to it. Thanks for hearing me out.
