That sucks :<, I'll update the banner tomorrow morning
Oh boy round 3 here we go. All the teams still playing have qualified to play in im at this point, so it's all for glory and potential esports money from here on out. Sorry for the write ups being shorter this time around, but I was more rushed writing these because of the short time in between rounds.
indust we trust (#1) vs Playground Tactics (#4)
http://i.imgur.com/J4yiSqr.png
indust we trust will be facing their first real obstacle of the playoffs in Playground Tactics. I'm not too sure which way this match will go since supposedly this is both teams' worst map, but I'm inclined to think indust will continue their winning streak. While Playground Tactics may have some of the best DMers in Open in Rikachu and insom, I think indust is more well-rounded and their stronger soldiers should help them a lot on granary. I really want to see Playground Tactics get the upset here, but I'm going to give it to indust we trust. Should be a close match - indust wins 5-3.
Players to watch: Bill, kL, Rikachu, insom
The Crunchy Bunch (#3) vs Tonights Entertainment (#7)
http://i.imgur.com/kaqbmRh.png
Following what I consider to be an upset last round, Tonights Entertainment have found themselves matched up against the crunchy bunch. Mausy shouldn't have as much control of the flow of the game on granary, and I think that the scouts of the crunchy bunch are strong enough to fend off dflame and Stratovarius. The Crunchy Bunch has better soldiers, so I think they should win this; however, the teams that form around Rex and peyote are historically terrible at granary, so I'm inclined to think the match should be close. I'm giving this to The Crunchy Bunch 5-3.
Players to watch: Rex, Rekuso, Mausy, dflame
New Faith Church Gaming (#15) vs Rent-a-Homies (#16)
http://i.imgur.com/QfH1wvN.png
NFCG really surprised me last round when they got romped by Tonights Entertainment; after going back and watching the match though, I'm pretty sure that they're just horrible at viaduct. They'll be back in their push map comfort zone this time, so expect them to start showing some dominance again. Unfortunately, I don't think serv0 is going to be enough to win this match for the rentable homies. NFCG should win this 5-2.
Players to watch: serv0, clorg, cabin
Zaboomacrew (#11) vs The Peppercock Family (#13)
http://i.imgur.com/y3byqu8.png
Funny that these teams should meet up in playoffs after being deprived of this very match-up in week 8 of the regular season. Zalfy shouldn't be able to have as much of an impact on this match as he usually does, with granary not exactly being one of the most scout friendly maps. I'm going to say that Zaboomacrew has the upper hand in terms of heavy classes though, which should be the deciding factor of this match. I'm predicting Zaboomacrew to win this 5-4, I think this should be one of the closer matches this week.
Players to watch: Zalfy, kace, avast
Toon Gang (#6) vs slippin with slipz v2 (#12)
http://i.imgur.com/Rd8K0qY.png
I don't really have much to say about this match, unless there are more ddos shenanigans then slippin with slipz should have this in the bag. Slipz wins 5-2 if they don't get ddos'd.
Players to watch: synchro, powermangoes, bsc, defiance
Hanky Panky (#2) vs gettin cozy (#8)
http://i.imgur.com/GZcs3Ld.png
Hanky Panky managed to scrape a win on viaduct by thoroughly utilizing the minigun aka fun vacuum. Fortunately for gettin cozy, heavies won't work outside of last. If Hanky Panky gives a repeat performance of their round 1 match then I don't see them coming out on top here. Here's hoping they start to step up their game for playoffs. gettin cozy wins 5-2.
Players to watch: Hugh Laurie, Fan of Angels, Noko, Frostfir3
Hi, I'm conductor aka kailey aka craigsmith_. It's been a blast, but the trans-autistic railroad has made its final haul and I am looking for new people to play video games with next season. I'm looking to play demo in im. I know playoffs aren't over, but I figured I'd make this thread and sit on it for a while just to see what's around. Previous teams include ill tempered sea bass, jump_yucca, incestual princesses aka poisonous timberwolves, ass pounders, and trans-autistic railroad.
tshirts is a cool dude with adequate ability to click on the mans from what I've seen of him
rofl who the hell are these fools voting woot as the best demoman? At what point did smart play and good aim become overlooked in favor of random mouse flicking and laying stickies everywhere in between constant failed jumps on the enemy medic. Obviously a better teammate than destro or solid, who actually attempt to do damage rather than just cleanup garbage frags.
here is a fun game: download a woot demo or stv of his team and attempt to count the number of shots which are aimed. Place bets with friends in mumble over how many times he will stickyjump into the other team to make up for his lack of dming ability. I know it's tempting to spec sureshot carrying him but take the time to truly observe this demoman and try to decipher what exactly he is attempting to do for his team at any given time. and if you still think he is good go to steam, right click tf2, select "delete local content" and take up a mw2 gaming career.
my perfect record died tonight, fuck you clorg
everybody hated blinky before and it worked out for him, just sayin
cozenragorism will be replacing atomsk on roamer! good write up. these next matches will be interesting!
is that a permanent switch?
if you're switching isps check around on broadband reports by your local region, cable companies specifically will vary drastically depending on where you're at.
Technically there probably isn't physical degradation happening at that temperature but it is high. The thermal paste that comes with stock heatsinks is usually really bad, just replacing that might be enough.
oh right I forgot that strat and bopper switched classes, my bad I forgot to fix that I'll do it now. I've been told it's mausy and that it's stoper and until I have a definitive reason to think one or the other I'm leaving it as it is. As for what you think about the players to watch or the score, I don't care.
BIG BOYS (#9) vs Rent-a-Homies (#16)
http://i.imgur.com/N9F4VxR.png
I'm actually not too sure which way this match is going to go. BIG BOYS did take 4 rounds off of gettin cozy in round 1, but cozen spent a large portion of the match doing his best super saiyan impression. BIG BOYS have a team dynamic where pt gets all of the heals, and they play at their best when hooli and bio both manage to go huge with no heals. They seem to be inconsistent in delivering this, though. The crux of this match should be walka and moolkey. The 2 of them are sporting the #1 and #2 ranks of most deaths in the entire league. I really don't know how they manage to die so much, but on a map like viaduct where spawn advantages have a large impact it could end up being the nail in BIG BOYS' coffin. Moolkey and Walka need to learn to recognize when they need to stay alive. Rent-a-Homies may not have anyone outside of serv0 that comes off to me as a particularly strong fragger, but they have sound decision making and I think they should be able to take this match with that. Rent-a-Homies wins 4-2.
Players to watch: Hooli, Bio, serv0
trans-autistic railroad (#5) vs The Peppercock Family (#13)

Viaduct could be anyone's game between these two teams. After a somewhat difficult first round for both Trans-Autistic Railroad and The Peppercock Family, the two teams will want to bring the heat to this match, as I'm sure they all feel the sinister breath of another season in Open breathing down their necks with another loss. Breloom makes his return after being absent last week while having FFG fill in for him, and should bring some presence that was lacking a bit during cp_snakewater last week. On the other side of things, all eyes will surely be on zalfy to go bananas on viaduct and maybe even show off some of his head-clicking skills on sniper. However, it will be on the rest of the Peppercocks to really lock down this match if they want the win. As long as zalfy doesn't run a train on conductor Trans-Autistic should walk away with a 4-3 win, but they'll probably just make me look like an idiot again and lose.
Players to watch: zalfy, breloom, kohaku
Toon Gang (#6) vs Randy and Chums (#14)
http://i.imgur.com/sro4Gvc.png
This is another match that I'm not very sure about, and I don't really have much to say about it. These teams should be a fairly even match in terms of dm, they both have 1 or 2 strong fraggers with the rest of the team being a sort of supporting cast. Randy and Chums is more cohesive as a team though, and their better decision making should edge them out to win this. Randy and Chums wins 4-3.
Players to watch: blackymonster, kraka, powermangoes
Hanky Panky (#2) vs Very Good Bad Boys (#10)
http://i.imgur.com/KtcAboA.png
Hanky Panky gave us a dismal performance last week, getting brutalized by New Faith Church Gaming. I still have some shred of hope for them though. Their biggest weakness was probably that the only play in the dashner playbook seems to be jumping the enemy team's medic at the earliest opportunity. However, this probably won't be an issue on viaduct since it suits the map well. Very Good Bad Boys did fare a lot better than I had expected them to in round 1, managing to actually put up a bit of a fight against Tonights Entertainment. Hanky Panky can probably win this with their dm ability and experience, but VGBB should be able to take some rounds. Hanky Panky wins 4-2.
Players to watch: Hugh Laurie, north^star, Fan of Angels
