#69 Capcom Pro Tour in Esports

Toryuken V has started at https://www.twitch.tv/torontotoptiers

Ranking event with all of EG (minus Momochi) and various other good American players attending. Canada's best are most likely here as well.

Stunfest POOLS are happening soon at https://www.twitch.tv/capcomfighters

Premier event. Enough said. Plenty of top players. Gootecks aside it's Europe vs. Japan (plus Xian, GamerBee, Xiao Hai, and Humanbomb). Let's see if Europe can protect it's homeland.

#67 Capcom Pro Tour in Esports

Alright guys I hope you're ready for this. 6 Tournaments including a premier in the next 10 days or so. Let's go.

First off we have Stunfest.
Notable players are going to be Luffy, Valmaster, Daigo Umehara, Nuki, GamerBee, Kazunoko, Go1, Eita, Tokido, Bonchan, Mago, Xiao Hai, Haitani, Xian, Will2pac, Fuudo, RB, Gootecks, and most likely a lot more.

This is a premier event so anyone who wins this automatically qualifies into Capcom Cup.
Honestly it's super hard to say who will take it. I would say Tokido but Nuki is sick and it's possible that Xian busts out a new character and takes everyone by surprise here. Even then we have many other top players here such as GamerBee, Luffy, and Bonchan who are no strangers to being at the top of their game.

Stream: twitch.tv/capcomfighters
Brackets: TBA

Things to note so far:
- The 2v2 tournament ended with Luffy and Bonchan taking 1st. Notably Go1 and Eita take 2nd with Eita busting out his Ken. 3rd is Mago and Tokido showing off their ever persistent consistency. After that it gets interesting: Akainu and BusterMX take 4th after Daigo and Nuki. Now I've been bad with being consistent with this but I guess right now some players still need time to fully have their grasp of the game.

Next we have ranking tournament Toryuken V in Toronto, Canada.
A ton of NA players here such as the EG crew (Jwong, Ricki Ortiz, PR Balrog, KBrad) as well as Julio and FChamp will be here trying to get some points. It seems that Justin is set on just qualifying through points which is a safe option considering his huge lead right now on the leaderboards.

Stream: twitch.tv/torontotoptiers
Brackets: TBA

After that we have ranking tournament Lima Salty 3 in Peru.
So far it looks like there are no international players here so Peru gets to have some points. I think some Chilean players are coming as well.

Stream: twitch.tv/thebackyardperu
Brackets: TBA

Enjoy the festivities.

Battle Arena Melbourne 8 is happening right now on https://www.twitch.tv/newgameplustv

The most notable players I can see are Haitani, Mago, Xian, and Momochi. Solid list of players here along with I assume the strongest Australia has to offer. Let's see who can win. I'm predicting Momochi will take it actually.

Here are the brackets: https://smash.gg/tournament/battle-arena-melbourne-8-3/brackets/13019/34393

Notable events:
Xian knocked down to loser's by Falco, a local Australian player. Good stuff AU.

MJS|Haitani is the winner of BAM8 with his brilliant Necalli play. EG|Momochi comes in 2nd place thanks to his character switch over to Karin from Ken during one of the matches. Mago takes 3rd place showing off his usual consistency while RZR|Xian rounds out the top 4 with his mystifying F.A.N.G.

Next up we have a Premier Event, Stunfest. Premier events ALWAYS attract top international players so get hype for this. Also happening at the same time is Lima Salty3 in Peru for any South Americans who would rather go to a less stacked tournament as well as Toryuken in Toronto, Canada, for the Canadians/NE Americans.

#65 Capcom Pro Tour in Esports

Something to note so far during the Capcom Pro Tour is the characters for each region.

So far Europe is in favor of both Laura and Dictator (M. Bison). Saunic taking 2nd at Thaiger Uppercut and will2pac making top 8 at DHA support my statement with Mister Crimson winning an event with Laura as well. Problem X is currently the only high ranking Dictator player but I'm sure Gagapa is also playing Dictator as he did so in SF4. Phenom winning FrogByte further cements Dictator's place in the hearts of Europe.

North America is most likely to use the same type of characters they always have. These being Guile and Dhalsim. There is also a large amount of Kens represented by "the Trinity" of California which consists of: brenttiscool, Chris Tatarian, and EchoFox | Julio.

Japan has taken a liking to Ryu with Bonchan, Tokido, and Daigo all playing him. Their use of Chun Li is present as well with many Japanese 3rd Strike players using her such as Nuki and MOV. The rest of Asia is fairly mixed however.

South America I can't really say seeing as the only tournament they have had so far was where Jwong and KBrad went over and just tore up the competition. There was quite a few Dictator and Necalli's in top 16 however so I would guess that these two are their characters.

These are just observations that I've picked up while watching tournaments throughout the year.

Oh and don't forget Stunfest is happening in 2 weeks. I'm probably not going to watch the Australia tournament since it's probably just going to be a couple good Asian players going to get some free points... Who knows though maybe there's some hidden talent out there for the new game.

LeyrAppreciate the work push. Did you see that Xian won a tourney recently? I didn't see which one but apparently he did it with Fang

Yep I referenced it in a previous post.

pushIn other news Kuwait Battle Arena happened already and Xian is the winner of that tournament. And he's still using FANG...

Good for him. I still think SFV is going to be a solid game for Xian but he's still trying to gimmick people out with FANG (he has actually admitted to this in an interview) so most likely around CEO or EVO Xian will bust out his real character.

I'm betting on Vega to be his true main. Or maybe he will pick someone up down the line like Urien. Who knows.

If anyone's awake for this, Thaiger Uppercut has started on https://www.twitch.tv/teamsp00ky

Brackets: http://challonge.com/users/tgu

Expect a lot of familiar asian players here. Notable players are Gamerbee, KSK, Shiro, Humanbomb, Gackt, Itabashi Zangief, Haitani, Jiewa, Goichi, Santarou, gootecks (as a player), and Marn. Lots of asian talent in here (plus gootecks) so this should give a good idea of how South East Asia and some other players are doing. I'm predicting GamerBee, Haitani, and Santarou as top 3.

Enjoy!

The winner of Thaiger Uppercut is Eita. 2nd place goes to Saunic with his marvellous Laura play taking out GamerBee in the process. Following GamerBee is Go1 who made an appearance at Final Round and has come to Thaiger Uppercut for them points. Rounding out top 4 is RZR| Gackt who is showing off his consistency as a fighting game player.

Edit: Apparently Dreamhack Austin also started today but I don't really know when. Looks like today was mostly just pools anyway.

Bracket: http://dhaustin.challonge.com/
Bracket for top 64: http://dhaustin.challonge.com/dh2k16sfvtop64

Notably Snake Eyez and brentiscool have been sent to losers. Jwong, Ricki Ortiz, Julio, will2pac, alucard, PR Balrog, Chris T, Nuckledu, Hsien Chang, KBrad, Fchamp, Tampa Bison, and LPN are sitting comfortably in winner's side but with this many strong players in winners we're going to see many of them get knocked down into losers. Specifically KBrad vs. Hsien Chang is likely, as well as Nuckledu vs. Ricki Ortiz. We could also potentially see a runback between Chris T and PR Balrog, one which Chris T currently sits at 1-0 against Rog at Westcoast Warzone where he took it over Rog to win the tournament.

twitch.tv/dreamhackfighters will be the stream.

Expect the typical American players to show up like the WNF boys (Julio, Chris T), the EG gang, (PR Balrog, Ricki Ortiz, Justin Wong) and more like Nuckledu, LPN, alucard (minus Jiewa this time since he's at Thaiger Uppercut).

The winner of DHA is Justin Wong who is further cementing his place as the current top USA player. He dominated the series aside from a very close 3-2 match against FChamp's Dhalsim. Grand Finals was a bit of a wash with Jwong taking it over 2nd place Nuckledu very convincingly. Saionide rounds off the top 3, although at a crushing defeat at Nuckledu's hands.

Next week will be the Australian tournament and quite frankly with Stunfest being a week right after. I can see some South East Asian players making an appearance but any international level player will be at Stunfest most likely.
