ZestyI'm not suggesting that any teams below the top 2 from NA should go if they don't have a high chance of winning. It's pretty understandable (just as I wouldn't expect most of the prem teams to come to rewind lan). I just think it would absolutely suck if 0 North American teams came to i61.

I think 2 intercontinental lans a year with 1 in each region where we can expect at least the top team from the other region to attend is definitely feasible.

and I'm not saying there is an expectation for a 4th/5th place team to go to lan but it would have been fucking awesome and it was totally possible so im pretty pissed

ZestyI think some people are overestimating the price of flights also

My team looked today. Average cost ~900 for tickets, delay by multiplay cost my team like 2500+ if we were to go.

So this is supposed to solve the problem of 100 people being added up? When do we solve the problem of too much money in TF2?

Traxgarte. If you can prepare for a LAN you don't even know its gonna happen like Rewind LAN, you could've also prepared for i61.

Preparing to go to an EU lan involves $1200 plain tickets, passports, pc rentals, general "forfeign country" trouble

Preparing for an NA lan is a $400 plane ticket and a hotel room.

Where does this idea that people who would stop playing without prize pools don't love the game? If there were no prizes a shitton of top teams would fold, and it doesn't mean the people on those teams don't enjoy the game, it just means that committing every single weeknight to videogames is a big committment, especially for people with jobs or in college. You would still see a bunch of the top level players around in pugs but as far as making the time to play in a league they just wouldn't do it. you would lose like half of current invite, most of them from evl froyo and botmode's team.

so if raping the shit out of all current high skilled competition is worth a free league that could be mismanaged in any number of ways is worth it to u go ahead i guess
