Build up a couple of things that the left and right edges of your laptop can be put on top of, allowing enough space between the two objects for the fan to be placed under. I do this for my laptop that I play on. I don't have a fan under it though, the purpose of the space is to simply allow the heat a place to dissipate.

hanbroloi think you need to enable the concise disguise menu, maybe? i dont know the console command but its in advanced options. worth a try i suppose
Tried it, no dice. :(
omniMan, Crespi, I don't know what you've done wrong because I literally just made the bind "KP_UPARROW" "disguise 4 1" and I disguised as an enemy demo. You haven't got anything in your configs that could possibly be clashing with this, right?
I know, it's fucking bizarre as fuck right? I'm gonna lose sleep over this if I don't fix it because this is on the verge of defying the laws of physics.
Also, just for what it's worth, using the aliases from #6/dewotter, which execute a voice commands upon switch to a disguise - the voice command works and is played, but the disguise never goes past the disguise menu seen in the picture in my first post.
Makes. No. Sense :S
Dewottersuggestion
Unfortunately, this is no different than any of the spy scripts I've seen/tried, and it still doesn't address my basic underlying enigmatic problem. The problem being that simply typing in, for example, "disguise 5 -1" in console, only brings up my spy disguises menu, and does not actually switch to the disguise - i'm still forced to press a key on my number row to actually disguise.
Thank you for trying though.
hoolitry "disguise 4 -1"
same thing, 1 or -1 yield same result.
Typing in the name of the disguise alias in console yields the same result. Manually entering "disguise x x" in console also yields the same result.
I wondered the same thing, so I indeed did try holding it down, double tapping, tapping twice slowly, tapping multiple times. No dice :(
I wanted to avoid making a thread about this stupid spy problem, but I've tried and tried to fix it, and neither myself nor any of my friends can come up with a solution.
I'm trying to use basic aliases that set a specific key to disguise to a certain class; fairly simple stuff.
Posting the aliases isn't necessary, because it all comes back to this single problematic detail:
All the disguise aliases eventually come to one command, and that is, for example
diguise 4 1
Whenever I press the corresponding keys that I've bound to a disguise alias, my disguise menu appears on the hud, but does not complete the disguise action. I have to complete the disguises by pressing a number key, which defeats the purpose of the alias.
Typing in the name of the disguise alias in console yields the same result. Manually entering "disguise x x" in console also yields the same result.
Just for clarification, here is a screenshot of what I see when I press the disguise key, or type the alias or command in console
Please help me, I don't even play spy that often (except when I'm surfing) but the fact that I can't get these simple aliases to work really bothers me.
Thank you in advance for any help.
Try reversing the air flow. The fans in your laptop are designed to draw heat OUT of the machine. So try that.
Pacifist
I tried to put a box fan below my laptop.
After 30 mins, I realized that there was no airflow for the fan, and the fan started to overheat.
How did you set yours up?
Have you tried taking your outer casing off your portable and cleaning it out? As in dusting it out, getting crap off of the fans and anywhere else?
Also, is your box fan blowing into or away from your laptop?
I'm not very fond of you aim, but I love bhopping so much that I'm gonna hook you up. This plugin was personally given to me by a developer. I uploaded it to my dropbox for you.
Don't say I never did anything for you.
Could be something as simple as word wrap. Likely something to do with the formatting.
I suggest using notepad++ as it makes these things a little easier.
PermzillaWill this screw up the stopwatch timer on payload?
Decided to go ahead and upload the hud files.
If you want to compare and contrast my hud files with yours, the following files are the ones you'll need to look at:
hudobjectivetimepanel - broeselhud/resource/ui
hudobjectivestatus - also in resource/ui
Adding the server time limit timer itself is not hard especially if you already use the latest broesel version (2.7). If you're not using broeselhud, you will have to set the fonts in those files to be compatible with fonts in your HUD's clientscheme.
If you want to make the server time limit timer your default timer however, you will have to adjust the position so that it is larger/above the round timer. Additionally, you could align and position the two timers any way you wanted. I just have mine centered vertically and sized differently because that's how I like it.
Just wanted to show everyone something I did with my HUD.
On the July 10 update, valve added a command - tf_hud_showservertimelimit.
For those who may have not noticed, this enables the server time limit to be used as an overlay on your main HUD, whereas before, this timer could only be seen when viewing the scoreboard.
In addition to setting the command to 1, you must add supplemental text to hudobjectivetimepanel.res - thanks to rays for hooking me up with that.
And this is pretty much what you get when using that.
Today, I showed a friend a screenshot of my hud, and he asked about the extra timer he saw. I explained to him the above, and then he asked if it was possible to "swap" the two timers, so that the server time limit timer would be the default "larger" timer, and the round timer would be the smaller one. I said sure it's possible, and then proceeded to edit it.
I think the server time limit is much more useful than the round timer. As a medic, I often use this timer to count/track ubers, and communicate with my team specific times that ubers will be full, as well as other things that require specific times to be called out. So now this is my default timer.
Here's what it looks like.
It was a bit complicated to do this, but it's not too bad. If you want me to upload my hud, I can do that. Everyone's hud/resolution is different, so you can't simply copy stuff from my hud into yours, but if you'd like help doing this, I'll be glad to help.
tl:dr Since Valve added an option to put the server time limit timer on your main HUD,I decided to make said timer my default - as in my "default" timer is large, and the round timer is smaller, and centered underneath the server time limit timer.
There have been times when I boot up irc, go to the channel, and see ~16 people added up. Only one of them is added as medic, and no one is captain. Then I'll type in chat "I'll be the 2nd Med if somebody goes captain" and not a single person will budge. Maybe they just aren't reading the chat, but it's a testament to how captain-phobic people are. I can admit that I hate being captain.
