Hey, I'm wondering if it's possible to launch demos from outside the game, similar to connecting to servers using the steam browser protocol (eg, steam://connect/ip/pw -> steam://.../playdemo/test.dem). If there is a way to use steam://run/440 with launch options and have it work that would be best.
The closest I could find was the +playdemo command line option, but this only works if the game is not currently open.
drshdwpuppetArch linux with linux-ck kernel patch and multicore rendering turned off in tf2.
I probably get ~50-100 more fps than I do in windows
How big of a difference does the linux-ck patch make? Can anyone explain why disabling multicore rending would help? I'll try it out later.
OperaisCHERRYThere is raw input, it's simply bugged. TF2 has a bugged version of a library that doubles the raw sensitivity. Using half your Windows sensitivity should be identical.bastia question for you linux users than if i got this thread here already. There's no raw input afaik and some distros have mouse acceleration so this would be my bet
if you played on winows before that do you notice any differences in mouse speed? even when i was 100% sure that my drivers were working correctly, my mouse felt about 1.5 times as fast even on desktop while not ingame.
That's correct, it's an old version of SDL that reports all inputs twice, so doubles your sensitivity. CSGO has had this fixed for a while afaik. If you want, you can load a newer version of SDL before launching the game using LD_PRELOAD I believe. You can put this in your launch options, example here.
I play on Arch with an FX8350 and GTX570. I get good enough frames with comanglias config and proprietary drivers. It's definitely worse fps than on windows, and frame drop issues happen a lot more.
I haven't gotten matchmaking to be playable yet, I have huge stuttering issues with the settings it forces.
Edit: CSGO runs perfect for what its worth.
I wanted to blow my brains out when I found out people take this topic as anything but a joke.

"People are just looking for a reason to be offended by anything they can find," said Scharf.
Sum it up pretty well.
vileNurseyjust let people do what they want dude why do u gotta butt in on everyones business
cuz it's racist dawg
It's racist to tell people what they can't do because they are a certain race.
Looking for one pls.
HellbentIf you however want to get into making web apps I'd strongly suggest javascript. It is gaining A LOT of traction. A lot of stuff is built with PHP, but many are just moving over to javascript. Also HTML is technically not a programming language in some contexts, so you probably have a lot more to learn here.
This graph sort of blew my mind. And while javascript is unavoidable as the only client side language for web apps, if you're looking for server side alternatives to PHP I think there is a lot more to consider than javascript. IMO, Java or Python would be better choices to learn since they are also more useful languages in general. Personally I like Go quite a bit, but it's also not too useful outside of writing web apps. With that said, I think writing websites quickly became very anti-newbie friendly ever since web apps became the norm over static pages. Writing for the web is a mess and I don't recommend it as a starting point.
@OP, I haven't seen it recommended a single time yet, but I've found reading textbooks more helpful than any lecture I've had and definitely better than any of these websites that try to teach you. You'll get way better foundations and be better off in the end. Try researching the top books for whichever language you end up picking, you can usually find any textbook online for free on university websites.
Add me if you want the pugme IP bans (I don't think there is many, but bullets should be there) or any advice from what I learned. Looks like what I wanted to do with pugme before giving up on it.
Also please don't use material design, no one deserves something so shit on a desktop web app. I spent a lot of time making sure things fit on the screen on every reasonable resolution, try not to make that a downgrade.
PS hope you finish this before middle of next month so I don't have to lose another $20 renewing the pugme domain.
Good luck
