_KermitD_goesprobablyhugelove-i dont get it whats the point of this?
hes recording the ugly parts of our society, trying to raise awareness for what some goverments do or showing how people react if they where aware of beeing filmed and monitored. Basically it also puts pressure on government institutions like the NSA or KGB and will maybe make people revolt against surveillance and control in the end... atleast thats how I interpretate it, this dude is a hero
How is a classroom full of students one of the "ugly parts of our society"? As the professor in the video Moritz linked clearly states, it's a private classroom that he is intruding on and wasting peoples time and money. He's is quite simply being an asshole and then when asked anything he just says "huh?" At best he is a moron that thinks he's making an amazing observation of the human psyche and at worst he is a completely mislead idiot that has no care for anyones privacy or time and seems to show he has almost 0 respect for those he is filming. From what I've watched this man is in no way, shape or form, "a hero".
I understand the point about surveillance and how people don't care about security cameras and how often they're filmed. The huge difference here is that not only is he actively intruding on them, he himself has much more presence than a camera, in a box, in a corner of a room. That's my two cents at least.
Alright let me get this straight..
First of all I never said anything about that classroom beeing an ugly part of society. Maybe you misread what I said or youre turning my words around for some reason but I said: [...] trying to raise awareness for what some goverments do or showing how people react [...] I know that hes beeing quiet frankly an asshole by intruding peoples homes and I wouldnt like if somebody did that to me aswell.
Let me explain tho why I said he is a hero (in context of the video in OP and not of the rest posted in this thread, as my first post was in context of this aswell...):
At the moment, in the modern world almost everybody seems to film whoever he wants, when he wants and where he wants. Be it kids with cellphone cameras, TV-shows with normal or "hidden cameras" that are trying to get the best of people, Youtubers that are trying to set the next big trend by e.g. pranking the casual citizen, your friends that want to show you whats going on at some place with a video or photo.
The thing that these examples and the surveillance camera mans video have common, is that people are getting filmed without permission, for entertainment or their privacy is intruded.
The thing that differs the surveillance guys video from the rest is, that hes making the people painfully aware of beeing filmed by constantly going in their face with the camera. (At this point let me say, that I dont really like his videos, but still think the statement is overall good.)
People are constantly getting filmed if they like it or not and nobody seems to do anything about it, now this guy gives people the opportunity to act against surveillance by giving it a face and shows this way very clearly imo how much people hate getting recorded and thus I also said that it puts pressure on e.g. the NSA or the KGB in the end..
Maybe youre right and this guy is a complete moron thats trying to entertain people in a really odd and not particulary sane way, but I still think the video makes a good point.
