fps drops when first joining a server

So I usually get around 300 fps when I'm just walking around and like 150 during mids, but for the first ~minute after I first join a server for the first time after launching the game I get dips to about half of those every ~5 seconds. If I just leave my game running then I will never get them after that first game. Also it appears that no matter how long I leave the game open before joining that first server I will still get the fps drops.
I know it's not really a big deal normally because usually you don't ready up for at least a minute anyway but if my game crashes or something and I have to immediately join a server it's pretty annoying to play with constant drops to 70 fps.
Specs are i5 4670k @ 4.0 GHz + 780 Ti. Using Comanglia's config with shadows enabled. dxlevel 81

Most pug groups have at least 1 shitty admin, just keep playing new ones you probably won't get banned from all of them. Also pugme is pretty hard to get banned from if you aren't doing anything completely retarded, try that

StevieWell, the pug.me one only seems to be occassionally filled with some people. Tf.tv already runs dm servers, so they probably have the resources to open a few mge servers as well, except I feel they would be populated more often than the pugme ones.
The tftv dm servers have nothing to do with tftv aside from being branded as such afaik. Sal pays for them out of his own pocket. I don't really think the reason there is no tftv mge server is that nobody wants to pay for one, it's more that there literally is no reason for one to exist. There are already at least 3 good mge servers that nobody uses.
ShunIt'd be cool if you could like, join a server from the homepage of tf.tv instead of watching tf2, or looking at juicy invite gossip.
Just bookmark the servers page if 1 click is too much effort for you. What I did is change my in game browser default url to the tftv server list
