SpaceCadetReally embarrassing for the USMNT. It just highlights how much work still needs to be done to compete on the world stage if we can't qualify in such a weak conference.
Even though USA Soccer is still growing, it will always suck that our more gifted athletes will always be drawn to other sports at young ages like Football/Baseball/Basketball. Our young athletes have so many options for sports compared to most other countries who focus everything on Soccer from a young age.
I don't think it would be a stretch of the imagination to say the USA would have one of the best worldwide soccer teams every year if our top athletes were focused on that sport.
american soccer sucks because of how poor it's youth camps and systems are. In the US soccer is mostly for rich people, yearly traveling team fees are usually over like 15k. When you look at that vs. where most kids who grow up to be these nba and nfl stars are coming from its not a big surprise.
