while i liked the voice over, when he started using terminology like lag and ping and other stuff it made me cringe a bit. I realize there arent that many other ways to explain what those are, but it still just made me... hurt.

#250 The 120Hz Monitor Thread in Hardware
nerkulfrknDeadboltWhalewhat kind of fps do you need to make a 120 hz monitor worth it?
120+

if your fps is lower than your refresh rate then it won't really make the game much smoother
This isn't necessarily true, a lot of people say they can notice 60Hz->75Hz, in which case you would only need 75 fps to take advantage of it. I would say you'd probably want 90+ to bother and ideally 120+ to get your money's worth
SetsulIf you don't get >120 fps (preferably about 240) ALL THE TIME a 120Hz monitor won't help you. With 90 fps instead of 120 it would show one frame twice, the next only on time and the frame after that twice, then once and so on. Yes, that looks as awful as it sounds.

tl;dr
Don't get a 120Hz monitor if you can't get >120 fps all the time.

One of these statements is true and one is false. Does anyone with experience know which, please?

the first is correct, i often dont get >120fps and still notice the higher refresh rate from my 60hz

#19 How do I get into dota/other games. in Other Games
MR_SLINa game like dota 2 has mechanical skill involved but it also takes a lot of knowledge to be good. familiarize yourself with the different heroes that are in the game. if you know a lot about a game, you can leverage that information to get good. knowing the various matchups, strategies, timings, etc. will get you far.

id say theres about as much mechanical skill in dota as there is in browsing the web without a popup blocker

#9 How do I get into dota/other games. in Other Games

dota is a game of knowledge so as long as you're learning you're getting better, whether its through watching good players play, watching youtube videos to see how items and heroes work, or through playing and learning first hand.

MaxHaxKillingWHY AREN'T PEOPLE PAYING FOR MY FLIGHTS???!?!?
Sorry I'm getting in on this late, but you seem to want to help and always seem super annoyed when messaged about Esea stuffs. Kalkin on the other hand has been super helpful every time I've messaged him and it's been a lot.

killing is helpful, he just seems mad because he is always mad, just gotta poke him a bit to get results :P

#30 Should I buy a 3DS? in Off Topic
yukidownpourI really want a 3DS just to play the new pokemans, the new Monster Hunter(s) (4 released sometime next year PLEASE CAPCOM), and to play Golden Sun 3 and any of the Phoenix Wrights.
Maybe throw Lunar Knights in there as well.
yukiYa the XL is great. I have yet to play a Layton. Borrowed a DS Layton off a friend and am yet to play it, I just have so many games to play atm ;o

Dunno if I would get Monster Hunter. Only time I'd get it is if I had consistent local co-op with a friend(s), since there is no online co-op till Monster Hunter 4 :[

If you have a PS3 and a PSP you can play MHFU online using a PS3 app called Ad-Hoc Party, or use XLink Kai through your PC

The idea is that I'm talking about 3DS and Monster hunter, not PSP you idiot.

dont mad
