not to say promod isnt a cool name but i feel like we could do better
i say double down and call it Team Fortress Pro in big ol' letters

You are not going to accomplish this with the pick classes without completely reworking them. Explain how you can make spy and sniper, who can only achieve kills by very specific criteria and have little utility outside of that job, just as generally applicable and consistent as a soldier? Not to mention how you're gonna make them actually fun to play against on top of that. One shots in videogames are very notoriously hard to balance and very few games can pull them off without feeling unfun.
Hey guys, I'm happy to say that linux has been running fairly flawlessly on tf2 with minimal tinkering with settings. The way the game looks definitely looks different since i was so used to using dx8 which isnt available on linux, but is in no way a dealbreaker.
Infact, linux has felt really nice, I feel like my only gripe is that since so few things run natively on linux as tf2 does, I do have to do a lot of tinkering and searching in order for game performance to just be playable, let alone perfectly. Just earlier today I was wrestling with my machine to run arkham city properly, and before that I was similarly struggling on how to make deadlock run well. These were games that would run perfectly fine on windows, but need some extra work to just run it in the first place. I now see why so many people online beg for linux support for everything,
But enough negativity, I'm very hopeful for the future of linux. Linux is a very very fine os and I'm sure I won't have to wait very long for some of the bigger games to get native support. I can live without fortnite.
Hey guys, I'm talking to you all through linux!
Thank you for the responses. I thought through long and hard and I decided upon Bazzite. I need to move my tf2 config and general passwords over but aside from that, I'm done!
So far, there have definitely been some headaches but there seems to always be a solution for linux, even if it takes a little while to find it. For example, the bazzite installation wouldn't open until I learned that apparently you need to turn off secure boot while rebooting. Steam's store page for some reason just wouldn't appear until I installed something called steam linux runtime. Logitech's G hub doesn't support linux and wine was really stubborn and refused to open it, so my dpi was just stuck on 3200, but thankfully theres a linux manager for logitech products called Solaar that does the G hub's job perfectly fine. Linux seems to be full of this stuff, tiny problems that prop up everywhere that get resolved after one search online.
I can't wait to play tf2 now, thank you guys!
I apologize if this isn't the right place to ask for OS advice, but it's worth a shot.
I'm upgrading my pc and I decided that this is a great opportunity to finally transition to linux, I have everything prepared and the only thing I need is what OS to use. I really just want something to play tf2 on with better performance, maybe other games too, with nothing intrusive. Now I don't mind having to manually download external shit like Wine or Proton or whatever installer or driver I need, but it would be nice if stuff was preinstalled right out the box.
So far the best contenders seem to be Drauger, Garuda, Nobara, and Pop!OS. But as I researched more about these gaming linux distros, people online seem to have really strong opinions on operating systems lol. Like Pop! apparently being dogshit to use as an everyday operating system, Garuda and Drauger being too overwhelming and cluttered, Nobara being unstable, etc.
Which one should I use? If I end up not making my mind I'll probably just use some beginner friendly os that everyone talks about like linux Mint and Fedora.
Richarrrrdif you make it so gold doesn't matter and most emphasis is on pure mechanical player skill then what's the point of this even being a moba
thats not what theyre saying, they just wish the cc mechanics are more interactive in this game. cc has a place in mobas for a reason, but that doesnt mean valve cant nudge it atleast a little bit towards the shooter aspect, considering (atleast from what ive seen) its the biggest complaint about deadlock.
from what ive played and seen, a moba can be fun, but when you add this new dimension of aim into it there has to be some compromise in mechanics.
faceit would've been so cool as a modern esea/tf2center-like 6s website where people can just hop on and play 6s with actual matchmaking if it wasn't completely squandered as a shitty 12v12 comp-lite that pandered to an audience of pubbers that had zero interest in it.
who was this for? like, seriously? 24 player pubs with prizepools? what did you THINK was gonna happen? i cant think of anything that would have incentivized degeneracy more than faceit.
its alright. ive never played a single moba before in my life and from what ive seen, i can see why so many people like the moba genre so much. the "aiming" though is more of a cherry on top, it is very much first and foremost a moba, not just a third person shooter. outside of the simple aiming mechanics, what disappoints me the most is the movement. for a "source game", the movement does not feel like a source game at all. you can "dash" on the ground and in the air that you do from pressing a button, which takes up "stamina" that has a cooldown to recharge. while im sure it has a lot of depth, it is very, very overwatch, and i mean that in the worst possible way. maybe its because of the genre, maybe for a moba this stiff movement is necessary, but for a shooter its not appealing. neither is the art direction. obviously nothing is finalized, its a beta after all, but many parts of this game lean into "soulless" territory (except ivy, her design is peak.)
id gladly pay $100 to valve for them to remove the stun from airblast

why dont we have montages like these anymore
hannahIf I were b4nny, I don't think I would want this documentary made, at least from what I read in the original post. Documentaries about b4nny have already been made, why not do something different? If there is a person that pubbers know from the 6's scene, it's b4nny. If you really do want to represent the game to a wider audience, why not provide spotlights on some of the people your audience might be less familiar with? When I watched the smash brothers documentary (often cited by melee players, including #1 player zain, as one of the reasons they got into the game), one of my favorite parts was seeing all the unique characters at the top level and how they interacted with each other and told recollections of the same event from different perspectives. You could focus on a specific event, for example when in RGL s6 Witness Gaming beat froyotech in grand finals. This was the first time froyotech had lost in ESEA or RGL grands in something like 6 years, with one of the Witness Gaming players winning invite in his very first season. Both options are infinitely more interesting than focusing on drama that is literally coming up on 10 years old.
second this. you mentioned you wanted something similar to emplemon’s hbox video, so why not make something like the melee documentary instead of glorified highschool gossip with a hint of gameplay? it’ll bring a lot of attention to the scene without coming off as bad taste to the people who actually play comp.
its still sad to read over his suicide note about his withered peanut farm that went sour
