GatanaterIt basically boils down to this. What do you want to do with your phone. If you want to do some nice developing and customization on your phone you buy a popular one. This is due to the fact that there will be many developers working on it. If you have friends that have Iphones and you want to impress them get a powerful phone. If you're just average joe and you don't want to pay an arm and a leg get a decent phone.
Here are my choices (I know my phones)
1: Galaxy S4: this phone is powerful, sleek and top of the line. The stuff about the plastic feel is bullshit.
2: HTC One: though the battery can't be removed this phone makes up for it in elegance.
3: Moto X or any of the new Droids. (Except the mini): I really like the new moto x due to its true customization features. Including changing everything from the back color to the accents. Plus it runs a great version of android and is brand new.
Moto X color changer is only availble with ATNT.
Also I like the HTC one alot because the matte metal just makes it feel way better.

Personally don't like iphones just because it's like a school computer, most developer functions are blocked, and with a jailbreak it's still pretty dumb to use most of them. Just like android better personally, especially rooted and with a custom rom.
