Small update, I played TF2 for around an hour on my roommate's computer with no issues. I'm going to test it out for a few more days to be sure, though, considering my router solved the issue for around a week. It might take as long on his computer for something to happen.
Oh, well at first it let me connect to the server again. But after a few days the issue reoccurred and I can no longer connect.
Instead of just having a cat 5 cable connect my computer directly into the ethernet port, I had a cat 5 cable connecting my computer to one of the ethernet ports on the back of the router, and then another cable from the internet port in my router to the ethernet port. So the router has the internet access, and my computer gets it through the router, I believe.
And yeah, same computer as at home. I can maybe try playing TF2 on my roommate's desktop
EDIT: Might not get to testing on my roommate's comp until later tonight or tomorrow
So this started happening around the week before the Scream Fortress update dropped. After playing on a server for anywhere between roughly 30-60 minutes, I get timed out and on any attempt to reconnect I get the "Connection failed after 4 retries" error message. Doesn't matter if it's connecting to a match server through the server browser or through the connect console command, or just trying to pub through quickplay. This has only happened with TF2, and never with CS:GO.
I'm connected to the internet directly through the internet in my dorm room wall, and have been since late August. I didn't have this problem when back home over winter break, so I assumed it was the university's internet/IT people being dumb. After contacting the tech center people. I was told that TF2 and CS:GO use different matchmaking/servers, so that's why it doesn't happen in CS. But somehow it's not an issue on the university's side of things at all? They suggested maybe it was because I was using a tunneling adapter like Hamachi, but I don't. They also suggested that maybe it's because of low tickrate servers or running a second program (I only ever have Chrome or Mumble open, so not an issue) that doesn't mesh with TF2, but they were "grasping at straws here."
I feel like they're lying to me and it's on their side, but I decided to try to get around the issue myself instead of dealing with that. I've tried wiring from my computer to a router and then from the router to the ethernet port, but it only fixed the issue temporarily. I've tried adding +clientport 27015 to my launch options (based on a suggestion from this thread: http://etf2l.org/forum/general/topic-30526/page-1/), and I've tried using my IP address with the +clientport launch option, but neither has worked. I tried clearing my autoexec and launch options to see if my fps config was causing any issues, no success there.
Is there anything I can do at this point to fix it? Or am I absolutely being lied to by the tech center, and as such should go back to them and get it sorted out? Any help is appreciated.
Sorry if this is really long or a rant at all, I just really miss being able to play this game.
so everything is the wrong font for some reason? downloaded from github, and the only change i made was changing the crosshair

I'll be going to Arizona State at the Tempe campus to study Computer Science this fall. Also in Barrett, The Honors College, but I think it'll only be for the first year.
Sweet, glad to see you finished it! Really digging the new menus, and I just enabled the new 6s and 9s. Looking forward to the full curves.
For the ESEA Lan, I'd like to see some interviews or just shenanigans with former Invite players who are there to spectate (relic, TLR, etc).
vilei played tenors and snare, went no-life on drum corp exercises, graduated from high school, never went back to drumming again. tenors gave me some broad ass shoulders. i also played in the macy's thanksgiving parade. shit was like over 3 miles long.
......
i loved santa clara vanguards drumline. i think i might start going to some drum corp shows in the future. that shit is impressive.
Dude, second year on snare here (section leader too), fourth year overall, and my band is marching in the macy's thanksgiving parade this year. Strange coincidence. But I'm so hyped for macy's, great way to finish my senior year.
And SCV is, in fact, the shit.
I was wondering if I could have my username on the site changed to reflect my steam name, Galactic__ (And that's 2 underscores).
Thanks in advance.
