When I applied for residential colleges for University, I had no extra cirricular stuff whatsoever, below average grades (literally didn't qualify to enter uni until I resubmitted an assignment in the year I was meant to go to uni lol), and I wasn't expecting to make it in at all.

So I fluffed up leading a plat HL team - saying I had to organise with other team leaders, organise the 8 players in my team run admin for it on UGC, and play in the game. I said that me coming 3rd one season made me an Oceanic 3rd place world champion

Gotten ESL to actually take a look at TF2, bringing another org in that nobody else had managed to get

Given TF2 casters and producers a chance to further their career in other games

Exposed TF2 to other communities such as CS by casting 1000+ viewer games on the same twitch as the one he produces TF2 matches

Dedicated time to AsiaFortress who don't have their own casting org

Plus he does all this TF2 shit out of courtesy. He has no need to do anything with TF2 anymore, if he wanted to he could ditch and just do CS:GO shit all day, but he made his start here and wants to give back through getting ESL involved and organising LANs and producing matches that otherwise wouldn't get coverage. He's not making any money, he's literally wasting his time on trying to give back to this fucking disgustingly ungrateful scene.

As someone that struggled with the same thing, don't worry about it. I considered all of my classmates family, I would've taken a bullet for them, but now that I'm at Uni living my own life I barely talk to anyone from back home. As an introvert also, you'll probably find that you just make friends. If someone says hi, just say hi back. I was worried because I'm a pretty reclusive person but I found that if people made the effort to talk to me I should probably give them the same respect back, and I just gradually built up a new friend group
