Saw that someone else made a hackathon thread here, so I figured I might as well fire a shot in the dark too. The computing society at my campus is getting free admission to NYUHacks on the 15th and I've never been to a hackathon before (I was gonna go to DEFCON in Vegas this summer via my old CC but I had to be registered for summer classes there to be eligible). I'm gonna go regardless of whether or not my friends from my old CC with me here are going, but I wanted to see if any of you nurds are into this kind of thing/by some random chance someone from here is going.

Seek a therapist or even a psychiatrist if the problem is that severe. You should never sit on a problem like this, and to be perfectly honest posting to it about us won't do you any good unless someone on here actually is certified with doctorate and all to be a psychologist (or psychiatrist if your anxiety is that severe). Reaching out to someone who isn't talking to you over TCP/IP is the quickest way to solve anxiety issues.

I'm not sure about how well it handles Netflix but get her a Chromebook. If all she's gonna be doing is office stuff and some minor recreational stuff like Netflix, invest. Bunch of guys I know from CS here and some other students in my english classes have Chromebooks amongst the waves of Macs and they love their Chromebooks. I'm thinking about getting one myself to replace my aging netbook.
