I'll mainly be playing HL on stream (with my team and pugs), and occasionally some 6v6 with my team.
Country: USA
Leagues: UGC platinum / ETF2L (hl), ESEA-O (6v6)
After playing spy on MTS for a full season I feel like I can confidently say this. (I enjoy playing/watching 6v6 but my statement below is meant for highlander.)
I felt vibes that I haven't felt since watching classic mix^ back in UGC S3. Back then it had a different composition from the current 6v6 team. It consisted of ESEA-IM aVoided plus some other notable players like Platinum, blackymonster and powah. Regardless of how much they cared, for a shitty pub-only player like me back then, you could watch mix^ and there would be no shame in saying to yourself, "wow. I want to be as good as those guys".
Hopefully -ts- and mts's performances this season gave lower divisioned players the same kind of inspiration - and ultimately get them into 6v6 and put new faces into upper level HL.
For me personally, I don't really care whether people think I'm worse than stabby stabby, look down on me for playing spy in HL, or say I get carried by mix^. this season was a lot of fun and was a unique experience. The team adapted to everything really quickly, knew how to have fun, and most importantly - knew how to compete. I hope to see/play with more of the same.
tl;dr: the invite rule lifting resulted in a really fun/inspirational HL season to both play in & spectate.
