#25 Smart Drugs in Off Topic

"nootropics" that are marketed as such are all useless, ESPECIALLY piracetam and all of its shitty indian knockoffs (aniracetam, randombullshittam, etc.). take this unsubstantiated, unregulated powder for around a year before you can become "smarter"? hahaha i don't think so. you know what actually makes you smarter? thinking for yourself & not being a lazy cunt.

almost everything discussed on nootropics forums is just well-marketed alternative medicine.

the studies compiled by examine.com have shown piracetam, rhodiola rosea, bacopa, st john's wort, and many other herbal remedies to have "slight" correlations to subjective bullshit like "focus" & negligible, or even potentially harmful, correlations to reaction time and your physical health (liver damage is a common trait).

you should also know that rhodiola rosea & bacopa got major attention in the USA because of Dr. Oz. unless you live in a hole, this should raise some red flags. he's a sham artist that works in conjunction with these shady indian fuckers to target housewives & their insecurities about their intelligence & health.

in the end, even major hubs of nootropics discussion like /r/nootropics recommend caffeine and l-theanine over everything else (but you don't even need the latter if you don't overdose on caffeine).

just get a healthy amount of sleep & manage your caffeine intake to ~100 mg a day; you'll be as focused as you'll ever be. honestly, you shouldn't even take caffeine daily, as building a tolerance causes irritability & aggression when you're going through withdrawal (even if the withdrawal is relatively short and harmless).

i've met too many idiots who take adderall recreationally for me to recommend it. if you legitimately have ADHD, it does wonders, but it reduces acuity for otherwise mentally healthy people. also, amphetamines are notorious for causing long-term liver damage & dependency.

if you aren't diagnosed with anything wrong, you need to come to realization that nothing beats honest-to-god work ethic. just man the fuck up and stop making excuses for yourself if you aren't getting shit done. if it's school that you're worrying about, then you need to realize that failure is a natural process of learning. don't take criticism maliciously, surround yourself with intellectually healthy & accepting people, and your confidence will improve a lot quicker than if you stay cooped up and take fake drugs while berating yourself.

PhunkHas anyone tried those 600hz plasma TV's? Why aren't more people gaming on those?

I heard that that's not necessarily the image refresh but rather a color refresh or something, but someone here could probably explain

the terminologies are inequivalent

#9 Why does aiming require so much warmup? in TF2 General Discussion

the difference stems from the physical definitions of fine and gross motor control.

juggling, among other skill sets that can primarily be analyzed with composite body groups, is a gross motor activity that is improved by understanding macro-dynamic and macro-energetic muscle motion. proper execution comes from understanding general manipulation of the body group rather than its components.

in the context of computer games, aiming, regardless of sensitivity & state of control (consciousness vs subconsciousness), requires much more precise hand-eye coordination & ultimately requires much more fine motor control than gross motor control during most instants in the motion. one of the biggest factors that humans have to differentiate themselves from other mammals is fine motor control; we allocate most of our mental resources towards its mastery.

with that said, aiming is a complex subject; aiming in the context of computer gaming is analyzed differently from how jugglers' aim. when you discuss the physical concept of aim, you have to rationalize the scope of the activity & the ability to discuss the topic using composite body groups versus individual bodies. in the case of gaming, you're not simply manipulating a composite body; you have to look at each subsystem and identify each point of failure (energy leech). as such, you would have to consider the various forces interacting with the mouse & the energy of the mouse-mousepad system, hand-mouse system, and arm-hand system. as a tip, one concept that might be tripping you up is the conservation of energy & its consequences; you have to account for nonconservative forces (friction) leeching energy from the conservative forces in the entire system.

the main point i'm trying to make is that there are various (non-constant) nonconservative forces leeching energy from the system (friction from the mousepad on the mouse) and/or altering the motion in some fashion. your goal is to identify those forces and minimize their effects (a few examples are friction, mouse stability (which may be better analyzed through the computer science and electrical engineering disciplines), hand stability, finger stability, arm stability, elbow stability, etc). unfortunately, given our biological constraints, fine motor control has too many uncertainties to be perfectly stabilized. to improve your aim, work towards approaching equilibrium, but don't expect to actually reach it.

biophysics is a pretty neat field; both small-scale (fine motor control) and large-scale (gross motor control) phenomena can't be adequately explained with kinematics. it can get pretty complicated!

1) killing doesn't struggle with english
2) killing wouldn't care enough to clumsily shoot shit with some low open shitlord
3) i don't think anyone but your circlejerk thinks that "reading the windows cursor position" sounds like sophisticated hacker lingo

but most importantly, why are you publicizing pastebins that xcv is clearly forging and uploading on his own behalf?

the real "smh" is the open drama from bad players barely trying to snatch relevance

#4 How do I dodge rockets as a Scout? in TF2 General Discussion

whatever advice you may get, sometimes it's better to focus solely on dealing the maximum amount of damage and quantitatively weigh the amount of damage you'll receive off risk vs. reward.

it's a projectile that causes splash damage, and the majority of map structures guarantee a place for that rocket to hit you unless you run straight away. sometimes you have to suck it up, play brutally (there's no such thing as playing "disrespectfully" if your goal is purely to learn how to beat your opponent), deal a lot of damage & clutch the win with low health.

however you rationalize it, taking damage isn't a personal fault; video games are inherently designed to be accessible, so everyone is going to do damage to each other at some point. don't get hung up over it.

practice ammomod mge enough and you'll figure it out.

also, anyone who gives you shit for unintentionally playing clumsily/passive while you're trying to figure out the best method of approach is bad and irrelevant so don't worry about them. mge is specifically designed to help you figure shit like this out. with that said, refrain from justifying your loss to class-based differences when your intention is to overcome it. losing can be obnoxious, but learn to empathize with your opponent and you'll be able to handle many things in the game. chatting it up in MGE is a waste of your time. make the most out of your time and beat nerds up.

#520 ESEA-I S20 Happenings/Predictions in TF2 General Discussion

it is interesting trying to qualitatively analyze how you feel with different amounts of sleep (including no sleep)
when i get >8 hours of sleep, i have a light brain but i am lazy
when i get 8 hours of sleep exactly, i am a bit groggy in the morning but motivated after i fully wake up
when i get 6-8 hours of sleep, i am more groggy in the morning and i only become truly motivated at night (HAHA THIS IS BASICALLY ME RIGHTN OW I GUESS)
when i get 4-6 hours of sleep, i generally wake up instantly but my cognitive threshold is definitely lower -- it feels like my brain is swimming in its own waste product
when i get 1-4 hours of sleep, i basically snooze up to 1 minute until i need to leave and i usually get an adrenaline rush for my first class and then i am incapable of thinking for the rest of the day no matter what i possibly can do to keep myself awake AND MY RIGHT FRONTAL LOBE HURTS OUCH. also my hands generally start to shake if i don't sleep immediately after class & my reaction time is shot (idk how i even managed to play ESEA but i guess scouts don't have to think lolz)

when i get no sleep for 32 hours, i slowly degrade into a zombie until my legs collapse (which literally happened last thursday i probably died in an alternate timeline the funeral will be held tomorrow)

ok thx for ur help everyone back to work well wishes don't kill yourselves from tf2 drama now bye bye :)

#518 ESEA-I S20 Happenings/Predictions in TF2 General Discussion

one of the biggest reasons why i procrastinate is because i sometimes intuitively rationalize the problem in my head yet when it comes to writing it out i lock up because i am scared of failing and being told that my head thoughts are wrong but my head thoughts aren't wrong yet it's the fear that they are it is like a fractal of fear going deeper and deeper long run on sentences of berating faILURE I DON'T WANT TO FAIL

you know what's fun guys?
integration in physics equations, especially theoretical models that use unbounded integrands so u have tricky domains that u have to work around... and the only way you can find those domains out is through EXPERIMENTATION!!!

one of the coolest things in the world is developing generic symbolic equations and knowing that you can just plug in numbers to get the exact answer in any situation (within the domain)

i am seriously considering getting my second major in physics omg

but really i am lonely and trying to motivate myself to stay awake and grind out the homework don't judge me please help aaaa
