I wonder if there could be some sort of reward system for coaches? Like, new players would rate them, not on if they won or lost, but how helpful and insightful the experience was. Based on that rating, and how many times they coached, the best coaches would take shares of a donations pot or something?

cbear4812622Chiming in with frkn here, if they allow the best and most common unlocks, there's no reason that Scouts can't use the FaN or BFB if they want to.
also wha cbear gunboats are what make roamer fun to watch :C
it's just my (unpopular) opinion
accomplishing the roamer job while not taking heals without gunboats is, in my awful/wrong opinion, more impressive/fun to watch
i understand they're not going anywhere, and i've made peace with them being a staple in our meta, i just generally dont enjoy watching the tactics gunboat soldiers employ
old, crusty, mad, bad, etc.
I see where you're coming from. I think I'm on the opposite end of the experience spectrum, as I have literally no competitive league experience, all I've done is watched a lot of streams and casts of both ESEA and ETF2L and that's all I can base my thoughts on. I think you're right that a Shotgun roamer accomplishing something is impressive, but that's the point, isn't it? It's impressive because the Shotgun is inferior, and therefore being able to make plays with an inferior loadout is impressive.
But, like, from a purely spectator's perspective, empowering the roamer with being able to jump much more freely makes watching it more exciting. Roamers are the ones who most often rush in to break up stalemates and let the game start moving again, and with the Gunboats allowing them to jump in and wallboost with like 270 HP, instead of like 200, or or being like Dave_AC and jumping in, landing two rockets, and jumping out, I think it makes a match that much more dynamic.
-opinions of a terrible player with no experience who pretends to understand stuff
i live in america and the right to bear arms is extremely outdated and dumb

1700 last time i checked, probably higher.
Tictac, relic, rb, all playing amazingly, looks like Xensity gonna take fourth lan spot.
staying on soldier is best because you can get consistent entry damage in chokes and make plays while other classes can't

they could totally become a thing if someone wanted to be the vhalin of 6v6 though :C
Black Box Gunboats roamer needs to be a thing. Why isn't it a thing yet?

wow
who picked these again
before i read the posts i thought we were talking about the time when teams could take rounds off of mixup
2sy_morphiendThis is the fuckbillionth time we've had this conversation and we've become exceedingly efficient at it.
Ah, sorry, I checked a couple pages back and couldn't find something like it.
The two universal rules that everyone agrees with is that you don't play Heavy or Demoman with stickies in MGE without asking, but there's lots of stuff that I've heard people claim is on that level. Is there an unspoken taboo against anything else? Stickies in SOAP? Gunboats in MGE? Sniper or Pyro?
What they said about demo reviews, but also a repeat performance of your amazing karaoke.
so i was browsing the article section and i came upon a three-part article, iunno if this is common knowledge or has already been disproven or whatever
GgglygyI've never understood how a sponsor can work in a smaller market (TF2 when compared to LoL or SC2.)
If anyone has a notion on how a profit can be turned by sponsoring TF2 teams, I would like to hear it. (Talking about sponsors like eMg LG etc, not for advertisement purposes like PAPA JOHNS THEY SHOULD SPONSOR A TEAM.)
THE POWER OF COLLECTIVE BARGAINING
Sponsorships are particularly hard to come by for gaming teams for two reasons: it's every team for themselves, and the competitive model offers little opportunity for teams to offer potential sponsors return on their investments.
Let's be real, the average gaming team doesn't have a lot to swing around as sponsor bait. For teams in the vast low-to-mid+ range, the promise of bringing in titles and accolades are slim to none. Media coverage is sparse. Website traffic is a trickle. Prospects at LAN? Right, most potential sponsors aren't going to bother buying you plane tickets if you aren't going to place. Yet, if you're among the top three or four teams, you're living large, at least compared to the rest of your scene. The situations that the majority of teams find themselves in is about as disparate as possible from the experiences of the top teams.
Collectively, teams that aren't part of the upper crust would have a much easier time finding support. "Sure, we may not all be the greatest teams in the game, but there's ten of us, and you can sponsor us all at the same time." The range of 'sponsor bait' available to groups of teams is much broader than that available to each team on it's own. Pooling resources makes getting server sponsorships much easier. Form a league or a small cup with a group of teams, get a media outlet on board, hype the hell out of it, attract a sponsor, and share the proceeds.
Individually we're all fighting over the essentially the same limited spectrum of potential sponsors, so what's preventing us from banding together and attracting them all at the same time, for everyone's benefit?

Also, maybe something like the old MGE videos? Mumble comms are now all over on twitch.tv, but I thought some of the best ones were the demo reviews, which really broke down the process of how amazing players thought about the game and it was really insightful and stuff to watch. With a minute at the beginning, middle, and end advertising the sponsors and all?
