hooliIt will divide/dwindle the playerbase similar to the current fractured state of tf2 pugs and further increase the barrier-of-entry from pubs->comp. I don't say this often but this is a really dumb idea.
At this point, we have to keep the community as split as possible to make sure it has any fucking integrity at all. I'm talking about how Valve made their own version of 6v6 that the majority of the casual playerbase now thinks is competitive.
edit: while we're sort-of-on the topic, I think TF2center should dramatically reduce their hours required (500!?) so that people familiar with other FPS games can try out a semi-competitive version of the game and cut their teeth on that, instead of getting turned off by pubs immediately.
