If you want to record a 4-5 minute video at 480fps, you're gonna need a lot of space, but 240fps really lowers the amount of space required. The only up side to using 480 or higher is better work with motion blur and slow motion, but you only need to worry about that if you plan on using it. Even slow motion with 240fps looks good, just not at something like 3%.

Have you by any chance tried reloading your hud while watching a demo? I'm not really sure what could be causing this if it happens both with vanilla recording and Lawena. Try backing up your main config, maps, demos and anything else in your tf folder that you think you'll need, then delete the tf folder and let TF2 reinstall it.

Are you using that "no black border when scoped in" script someone posted here not too long ago? This is what it looked like for me while using it and playing, so I'm assuming it could be that.
