shorasmartenThe Dutch version of my research even found a significant difference between people who played TF2 compared to other gamers (in aggression)So are TF2 players more or less aggressive than other gamers?
only in the dutch questionnaire they scored higher. (the english version had like 80% TF2 players so hard to compare against a small group)
I have been a bit lazy but i finally managed to sort out the winners of the Steam Gift Card.
I used a random number gen to determine who won.
Congratz to Maurits and Minj
(i will contact the winners shortly)
As far as results go, i will now share what i have found.
I am trying to research the (alleged) Link between Video Games and Aggression while also including a motivational theory (BIS/BAS).
My hypothesis were that there will be a link between gaming and aggression, but the motivational systems will moderate this link.
There was a clear correlation between the amount of time spend gaming and the score on the Aggression questionnaire.

I did not find any influence of the motivational systems however.
The English version did not found a difference for TF2 vs. Non-TF2 players. It did however find a correlation between aggression and amount of time spend gaming.
In the end, the best predictor was the amount of hours spend per day.
To conclude, it seems that there is some kind of relation between gaming and Aggression but as i have only looked at correlation it does not imply gaming makes you more aggressive.
It could mean that aggressive people like playing a lot of games.
If there are things you would like to know, feel free to ask,
Thanks again for participating, i appreciate it.
SmytherFull results?
A lot of you are either using an Asus (29%) or a BenQ (38%) monitor.
The most popular models are:
BenQ XL2411 (23 people)
Asus VG248QE (35 people)
The most common response time was 1 ms with 58%
(2nd would be 5ms)
As i said, i divided the skill levels in groups.
They look like this:
http://puu.sh/oQf8H/0dd6ecd717.png
Meaning most of you were either Open players (,00 in the data) Or High/IM players (2,00)
The average of TF2 comp experience is 3 years (ranging from 0 to 8 years for some)
Does this answer your question?
So,
57% of you is using 144 Hz
with 60 Hz being the 2nd most used (23%)
65% of you, are using 1920 x 1080 as your resolution.
2nd biggest group is the 1280 x 720 one, with only 8%
I divided you guys based on skill level, and looked at if Hz and experience mattered according to the data.
Turns out, Hz does correlate with the skill level (higher players tend to have a higher Hz) but if you look at how many years people have played tf2, it was a lot less important.
That is too say, How many years you have played is a better indicator for skill (who would have guessed).
Hey guys,
i was thinking about refreshrates and resolution in TF2 and i wanted to know how important they really are.
so i setup a small questionnaire to analyse it a bit.
If you want to, fill it in :)
ill update the thread in a few days if i get some decent data

instead of being sad and depressed, can we try and focus on fixing stuff. Surely there are things we can improve.
The site seems to barely function :/
is there anything that you might need so we can try and make it work?
Hunter_2_0why does it ask for your native language if your native language has to be English to take the survey lol
Because I can't physically stop people from filling it in ;]
Air_nopeoh shit I just did half of the first questionnaire backwards, assuming that bigger numbers = more true... I feel like that's the standard. Oh well.
i did the entire survey that way
It's something I noticed halfway through, so I couldn't fix it anymore :/
Thanks for letting me know though
CrimsoNAny chances of you posting the results of the survey? Because I am a chemistry/psychology major myself and would like to know them
yeah i will, it might take a while but i will try and update
CHERRYmartenOk then, good luck with the research. Comparison between answers given by American/English players and Dutch is something that could be very interesting to see.CHERRYmartenAs i said a while ago i will try and extend this to english speaking participants and the time has come!Just native or is being proficient enough?
So,
If your native language is english
and you like to play games.
Rather just native. Questions concerning emotion/personality are usually best interpreted in your native tongue.
That is something i am planning to do, although i do not expect a difference in the answers

Could you fill in this survey?
I will do a small give-away for the people that participate!
here is the link: Has been closed for now, enough participants. Thank you all!
