#63 Escape Plan Proposals/ideas in TF2 General Discussion

Maybe the reason every soldier uses the escape plan is a problem with soldier, not a problem with the weapon itself.

The class needs speed in order to be viable (or balanced against scouts)-- I'd say that's a problem with the class itself, not the weapon.

I don't think the escape plan with even 65 damage is too powerful.

I'm really happy that valve seems to be giving a good effort to balance tf2.

#6 not just map tweaks, weapons too in TF2 General Discussion
Let's look at another example with the opposite problem: The Dead Ringer. At roughly 80%, the equip rate for the Dead Ringer is staggeringly high. Given the many other items available in this category, this means that players feel they don't have any other viable option but choosing the Dead Ringer. We've gotten emails from players who describe the item as frustrating to fight against, requiring too little skill from the Spies and too much from their opponents.

#11 Help with Hadware in Hardware

zowie ec1 works great for a claw grip if your hands are average-sized. push 2 talk buttons are ergonomic.

also another rec for the qck/qck+ (i play with a really high sens so qck is enough for me)

#17 mid open scout looking in Recruitment (looking for team)

rave is really fantastic. I think he is selling himself short here--a high open team in need of a scout shouldn't look past him.

Also he is only mediocre at shotgun denying on spire, and tends to jump directly into pre-fires.

#226 The 120Hz Monitor Thread in Hardware

I have the asusvg248qe (owner for ~3 months). I find it difficult to believe that someone without a 120hz could compete.

I'm very happy with the purchase. I would also say it's easily justifiable if you use the computer a lot, because it's quite easy on the eyes in day-to-day use.

#2 Medic in Recruitment (looking for team)

pugs are typically much different to teams, especially as medic. you can learn some stuff from them at first, but you'll quickly run into a wall in terms of what you can learn.

anyway, good luck with searching for a team.

#73 Scout v Soldier Discussion in TF2 General Discussion

i dont really have an opinion on the matter but when i get out 1v1'd as scout i call soldier easy and when i get out 1v1'd as soldier i call scout overpowered

#15 nonfiction stuff in Off Topic

"When China Rules the World" by Martin Jacques was really interesting if you like cultural studies / international studies. It's all about the differences between western and eastern modernity. It talks about race, culture, and economics through historical and modern examples. It's pretty dry though.

Not strictly non-fiction, "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich" was really phenomenal. It's one of those books that kind of makes you sit there for a while and just contemplate things. Sort of like Night by Elie Weisel, but it's less depressing and more plain and stark. Also The Gulag Archipelago is another deep cutting Solzhenitsyn book.

#16 Why there are so many chaotic roster changes ? in TF2 General Discussion
Dota, SC,

from what I understand, the top players in both dota and SC actually manage to make a living off of gaming? And the top teams sponsor them?

Contrasted with tf2, the top teams in tf2 have other stuff going on in their lives that takes priority to video games. Plus they don't have that motivation that hundreds of thousands of dollars provides.

Also, the way the game is, two very competent players can be incompatible with each other on a very fundamental level. So you could have a "dream team" in theory, but in reality the chemistry isn't there so people leave.
