DirtyMortI'm a math major, and when school started to actually get enjoyable for me, it was under the guidance of a wonderful calculus prof who'd become a mentor of mine. When I was in calc 2, I was also in a field research class and realized that a problem we were having with developing an experiment could basically be solved with an optimization problem, only with multiple independent variables. This is a calc 4 concept, but my mentor helped me get started on learning it on my own and showed a lot of faith in my ability. It was really empowering, so the gradient vector and calculus in general hold a really special place in my heart.
Hence, Differ ∇ = Differ-Del = just a vague nod to calculus and particularly, the gradient vector. :)

people fucking sucked in 2013 and idk how ppl like smesi who probably started after s20 can even comment on this at all
? teams like playground tactics and tonights entertainment existed in open in 2013... a lot of those players were/are fucking incredible

pretty much look at s13 open playoffs and i gaurantee you that at least 80% of those players are much better than all of the people who play in open/90% of IM now

yeah they were good at the time for OPEN, if you compare how they did in open to the teams that are actually good in open now you'd have a much different scenario
a lot of the people on the teams you mentioned kept playing after that and kept improving and eventually played in the upper half of im and invite
of course they'd still be good, you don't really lose your touch in tf2

eeeits pretty shitty advice? like its so obvious that it isn't really helpful because the people who take 1v1s and lose them all the time are already pretty aware that its not a good idea. Actual good advice would be trying to explain how to not let yourself get baited into 1v1s all the time without being so passive you're useless (because that's what most new open players do)

alright ok but i still see open scouts running and trying to dm everyone at 125 that are totally clueless to what their team is doing
i also dont want to be one of the many ppl who argue with u and accomplish nothing so im gonna stop here

eeemmrarkteidk using ur brain to get out of open is really easy
all you have to do is not take every 1v1, abuse 2v1s, buffs and listening to ur comboyeah the best way to get better is to just get better

really sucks no one told me that

? i clearly outlined what it takes to get out of open as scout
dont 1v1 everything, coordinate with ur team for 2v1s, get buffed a lot and pay attention to ur combo
what was difficult to understand
