#488 The 120Hz Monitor Thread in Hardware

hey all, I was looking into fancy 1440p IPS monitors if I ever feel like upgrading from my old ASUS 144hz, and I saw a lot of people recommending the LG 27GL850-B, as it has ridiculously low response time FOR AN IPS (average of slightly below 5ms)

this might be kind of a dumb question but I've only ever used a TN panel, how noticeable is that loss in response time in actual competitive games? anyone have experience with it or any newer IPS being advertised with a 1ms response time?

#14 Medic design opinions? in TF2 General Discussion

from my pov it's not that medic is boring, it's just how dependent you are on your teammates for basic awareness/dm

there are few things worse than when you know your heal target is doing something absolutely stupid but you have no choice but to follow them even if you know it's going to go poorly

I don't see how you fix that as long as it's the healer class

#12 RGL PUGs: Technical Alpha in Projects
bearodactylNot sure if this is how it works already but I think the best way to start would be to set elo by RGL div, so invite players don't have to do preliminary ranking games vs newcomers and ruin the fun (I'd imagine RGL thought this out tho)

Also I feel like changing elo solely off results in pugs might be a bad idea, when pugchamp came out people tried super hard playing vs b4nny and he had the lowest elo on the entire site for a period of time--imagine if having a low elo actually could de-rank you and prevent you from playing invite pugs for example

you're just salty that the elo gods declared milan to be the greatest player of all time

#8 RGL PUGs: Technical Alpha in Projects
det-Is there any functional difference between this system and pugchamp? I'm not completely sure what the incentive for playing RGL pugs would be compared to playing already existing pug groups...

b4nny will play them

I don't know why b4nny is so salty, the clip didn't even include the part where he said the n word back to the guy

#11 ok real talk in TF2 General Discussion

I don't think the pan on medic or the dh on soldier are a fair comparisons, because the market gardener is at least a sidegrade if not an upgrade over the escape plan and pain train in most situations- it comes down to what zesty said, it's not that the weapon isn't clearly useful, it's that people go for it in situations where rockets would be more reliable.

that being said off the top of my head market gardener is objectively the best play for both 1) bombing healthy but relatively isolated demos or meds where you can't risk them surfing (demos especially), and 2) when you're already like 50 hp and you know you won't have enough time to get multiple rockets off
