Jon did not imply at any point that he thinks people should not get second chances - and using those quotations to suggest that that is the case is either a misunderstanding or being childish.

Doing drugs as a recreational activity isn't that bad IMO but when you get to the point where you're regularly high while doing everyday stuff that you would normally do sober, it's gonna be bad. If it becomes a part of your routine it will become a lot harder to stop because humans are creatures of habit. Something I think works is making an agreement with yourself whereby you have to earn being high. Like okay I'm not gonna smoke until I've done x y and z of the things I need to do, and after that light it up. And try vary the things that you do when you're not sober cos again if you get used to doing something while you're in a certain state, you're gonna want to be like that every time you do it. Balance is the key to life.
