#21 bosh lft in Recruitment (looking for team)

chillest guy in mumble and i have never ever seen him rage. really solid dm and can make plays on scout and sniper. once he gets the hang of timings and eases up on the overextending, he will be an absolute beast. proven high open scout, pick up!

pretty nice guy from newbie mixes. Very vocal player. Might do well as a main caller. ;)

#13 scout v scout tips? in Mentoring

You are learning that you can't rely on dm all the time. But this is good! You will quickly learn that playing with your team will net you better fights. Think about how teams focus fire. If you are chasing a kill alone, how will your team help you? They can't. So bring the fight to them instead of +forwarding dumb shit.

Play dirty. Stack the favor in your odds, eg. taking 2v1s or 3v1s instead of 1v1 or 1v2. Shoot people in the back. Follow up on damage

You can try this out in soap dm and see the difference when you take 1v1s vs playing off your teams damage.

Hate to harp on this topic but gamesense >>>> dm. If you pick your fights wisely, you don't necessarily need to hit every shot.

To answer your original question: practice. But I wanted to point out that you shouldn't look at how you can improve 1v1 match ups, because you shouldn't be taking them if you can help it.

#15 newbie mixes tonight at 8 EST in TF2 General Discussion

if euphy was genuinely helping someone, then I retract what I said about him. I've just gotten a realllllly bad vibe from him because he talks a lot of shit and ruins pugs. sorry, euf.

Still think there needs to be more IM+ coaches

#16 Job interview - Help in Off Topic

Make sure you rehearse basic questions.

- Tell me about yourself
- What do you offer to the company
- Why do you want to work for X
- Behavioral questions: Name a difficult scenario, how you overcame, and the result of it

The other important thing is to think about the image you want to convey to your potential employer. They want to know if you are someone they would WANT to work with. I'm sure if they are bringing you in for an interview, you are most likely already qualified. What they are gleaning from a face-to-face interview is "Would I want to grab a beer with this guy?" or "Can I depend on him?" Be personable. Smile and joke around when appropriate. Show confidence: firm handshake and direct eye contact.

Also, smile. People like to be around happy people. Be happy!!

Goodluck!

#13 newbie mixes tonight at 8 EST in TF2 General Discussion

that shit makes me rage. euphy is such a downer. i might not be the best coach but i sincerely try to teach everyone the basics of midfights and pushing before starting mixes. I've been hearing a lot of "Hey Preston, this is really cool.. none of the other coaches are teaching us stuff like this. We kind of just play while they call"

This is wrong.

These mixes aren't for open players to pug stomp in. They should be aimed at helping the newer players learn the game.

There's been a downward trend in quality coaches. No offense to a lot of the coaches that are coming out, but there are a number I'm seeing that don't understand the uber meta, pressing advantages, or breaking stalemates. We should hold the coaching standard a little higher because randoms like euphy are slipping into the coaches channel. How awful is that?
